Almost a year ago my husband won a night's stay at the Drake Hotel on Michigan Avenue, but we have been so busy traveling this year that this "staycation" almost got missed. In the last month of the certificate's validity we snagged a room and then planned from there.
Nicole was kind enough to suggest Del Frisco's for our date night, which turned out to be amazing. If you have never been and have lived in Chicago for as long as I have you will get a kick out of eating in what used to be the old Esquire theater. Fun memory about the Esquire Theater: Last time I was in that building I saw the documentary "Supersize Me" with my roommate and we felt so gross afterwards that we walked all the way home!
My husband and I enjoyed the dinner, and the fact that it was only about a half a block from the hotel which helped since it was pouring buckets outside. But even that didn't stop us from talking a walk over to Forever Yogurt on Chicago Avenue to get dessert. After that we enjoyed some free cable and each other's company. Not often that you get that uninterrupted alone time with out all the distractions.
