New Gal Meets Glam Collection Drops Today

In honor of a new collection of Gal Meets Glam Collection dresses dropping today, I'm featuring my OG dress from the first collection. This dress right here is the Shelby and I was so into it from the moment I spotted because of its gorgeous floral, a covered sleeve which is great for work and the length thats not technically a maxi or a midi so it's ok if its a little too short on my tall self.  I kept this one on the back burner in my mind so you can imagine my excitement when it went on sale. Yep, its on sale so get it here! 

If you are not familiar with the Gal Meets Glam Collection it's a super ladylike monthly collection of dresses made by the stunning blogger and now dress designer Julia Engel. There is an e-commerce site as well as dresses available on Nordstrom's site and some dresses are exclusive to either site. As a huge dress fan myself, I find myself anticipating the new collections arrival because all the dresses are just so perfect for events and without fail, even some for everyday dress wearers who like to be a little overly dressed. I get so much wear out of dresses for teaching and summer events that I love adding new ones to my collection. I love that most of the styles are a "mom-friendly" length as well.

Although I could have bought many more,  I have limited myself to only two dresses so far, the Vanessa and the Shelby seen here on me. The linen Vanessa dress in buttercup, came with me to New York last month and will be up on the blog soon. Both dresses are just so classic and make me feel so feminine and pretty when I wear them, and isn't that really what every girl wants to feel when she gets dressed?

Blue Floral Maxi for Back to Work

Today is the first day back to work so I thought I'd get a little head start on blogging the back-to-work looks. I know if you have been a long time follower, my style has changed a bit for the last year, but I'M BACK! 

I'm a little bit worried that my work style will be a little weird at my new job. My style can be a little quirky at times and SLC is way more athleisure than my capes and bright colors. We shall see, maybe my style will evolve a little more now. After all, I'm still a mom and will have to go get Athena after work. Lets just hope I get really good at bending over in pencil skirts asap! Wish me luck at my first day back into the real world!

The Perfect Spring Floral Maxi Dress

No other store's products sizing confuses me more than free people. Am I alone in this? I swear, I own mostly XS and S items from them and I'm NOT small. it always leaves me wondering what the actual small girls are wearing or are they just REALLY embracing the flowy slouchy look and wearing the same size as this 5'9 girl??

Case in point, this dress. I saw it in the Free People store at City Creek Mall and all they had was a small. Normally this would be enough for me to stop looking at an item but I remembered this is Free People, where sizes are merely a suggestion so I gave it a go. The slip that came with it was comically small on me, like more of a tank top length than a slip. Luckily i have an extensive collection of vintage slips and knew I wouldn't need it. 

This dress was just too pretty to pass up. That is the other thing you can always count on Free People doing, taking all your money. You win again, Free People. But then again, with this gorgeous floral dress that's perfect for spring, so do I.

H&M Flowy Maxi Dress

H&M has been putting out these super cheap (usually around $19) dresses that are perfect for summer. The only problem I can find is that the sizing is all jacked up. This dress is a size 2? Guess what everyone, I'm NOT a size two! This was the smallest size it came in but it sure is comfy with the bump. On the other hand these lace up shoes are comfy but it's only a matter of time till I can't reach my feet to tie them! I swore I would only buy/wear slip on sandals this summer...so that's going well! Haha.

These pictures were taken on our drive to Las Vegas over Memorial day Weekend. The night before I was so sick I couldn't tolerate being in my house for one more day! I was so fed up that we hit the road for a quick one-night trip to Vegas, since its just a 5 hr drive! This was just off the highway. It sure makes a 5 hour drive go by fasters when the scenery is this pretty.

A Walk in the Park

Pretty much the same as my last outfit post, ASOS maxi, Rebecca Minkoff bag. It's like I'm starting to figure out my maternity uniform. Also if you noticed, I'm not messing around with heels much these days. You better believe that since I found out I was pregnant I've pretty much worn exclusively sneakers like these Supergas and my Adidas. Comfort first when making a human being, right?

You may also notice my Starbucks water in this picture. It was entirely necessary! I went through a phase where the only water I could get down had to be in a Starbucks cup with ice! Bonus points if the water was actually from Starbucks. Am I crazy or does their water taste better than anywhere else? I pretty much went through these cups so fast that the straws got holes in them and I had to take extras every trip in. They must have seen me coming, like I was the crazy lady who wanted the free cups of water. Honestly, I would have paid coffee prices if I had to but luckily they handed over these venti cups free of charge!

Seeing Stars

Last weekend I wore this fun glitter star-print maxi dress to a fashion show downtown SLC. It's from Asos, which has always been one of my favorite affordable sites for dress shopping for so many reasons. They offer free shipping both ways (and it's seriously the easiest returns know to man) and they offer most items in tall sizes which is perfect for me. What's better is that now while looking for maternity clothes, they are one of the only places with a super cute selection of tall maternity clothes!! That's a dream come true.

If anyone knows some good places for tall girls to get some cute maternity clothes, do tell!

Perfect the Lace-up Trend with This Great Maxi Dress

This Free People dress, like every other Free People item I own is insanely comfortable, swingy and effortlessly chic. It also perfectly embraces on of Springs hottest trends! The lace-up trend is in full gear right now which started with last years lace-up shoe craze being everywhere from Nordstrom to Old Navy.

Sometimes all you need is a simple black dress so you can let the accessories speak for themselves.
