Pop of Purple

To complete my week of black-and-white themed outfits, I snuck a small dose of the trend in on jeans day in the form of my J. Crew Snowcat shirt. I love how it added both interest and warmth under this cheery shade of purple. The hat was just out of necessity, much like the hunters were two days back.

This weekend brings one of my favorite bi-yearly events here in Chicago, the Nordstrom Cosmetics Trend Show. At last season's show, I not only forgot to put the battery back in the camera, but also watched in horror as the camera face-planted -- lens straight to the ground -- off a chair and broke. Between the Nordstrom purchases and the camera lens replacement, it was an expensive day. Let's hope that my camera stays safe this time in its double-protected bag!

Double Date

This lady and I finally decided that after all the time we spend together, taking one another's blog pictures and shopping, it was time our men met. This gave us an opportunity to do another one of our favorite things: dress up!

We both scooped up a Valentines weekend deal for a dinner-and-a-movie combo that started at the State and Lake Tavern then took us over to the Wit Hotel's private screening room where we saw an old-school favorite of mine: Serendipity. 

I had a blast! Love date nights with "couple" friends!

Hearts on My Sleeve

On a recent trip to the J. Crew Factory store (my favorite part of driving to Wisconsin) I picked up this adorable heart cardigan. I wasn't super fond of the print when the regular J. Crew stores were selling it in black and white but the red hearts on this one got me. I'm always looking for more ways to incorporate a good red into my wardrobe.

And in case you were wondering, sometimes I wear glasses. Mostly when my eyes hurt which they did this particular day. What do you think? Would you like to see them make more appearances in outfit pictures?

Baby It's Cold Outside

Maybe you couldn't tell from the frozen water behind me, but it was really cold outside when I took these...

Our Holiday Tradition!

Last Christmas my husband and I decided to start our first tradition as a married couple. We took a trip to the Music Box Theater to see the double feature of White Christmas/It's a Wonderful Life! It's a super Christmas-cheer-filled event including a organist-accompanied sing-along, hot chocolate, jingle bells and Santa hats and of course Santa Claus himself!

This year we decided just to go for White Christmas, which is our favorite. We figure that for future Christmases, if we can't make it back here to this particular theater, we can always watch the movie at home wherever we wind up.

I hope this Christmas brings you and yours much happiness as you celebrate, share, or even begin your own Holiday traditions.
