Dressing Up Track Pants

Tuesday, April 8, 2014

I dressed up these track pants by adding a silk blouse, faux-fur vest and black booties for a weekend of beauty fun at Gold Plaited Finishing Salon. While there, I had the chance to be the makeup model for a brow and bronzing tutorial in their "Gal on the Go" workshop (book one here). I was so impressed with the BDB eyebrow pencil they used on me that I had to pick up one for myself. My brows haven't been the same since. Unfortunately it was so sunny while taking these pics that my eyebrows are hidden by my sunglasses. I promise you they are perfected. If you are in the market for a no-brainer all-hair-color complimenting brow pencil I highly recommend picking this one up here or just stop by Gold Plaited! You wont regret it!

Madewell Must-Have

Monday, February 10, 2014

Last week I went to the Madewell Spring Preview event. It was hosted by the adorable Liz, who blogs over at Sequins and Stripes, who was just the sweetest ever!

While shopping the racks, I always tend to gravitate towards the sale items. I tried a few on and they just weren't doing anything for me. To my surprise, a very well-placed table of leggings jeans were right outside my dressing-room door, where I spied these almost-to-dark-to-be-considered-jeans pair of legging jeans.

I thought to myself that they were just un-jeanlike enough that I could get away with wearing them on days other than just casual Fridays. They were just too good and too incredibly soft to pass up. Of course they had to be full price, but with the event discount I got them for 20% off.

If you are in the market for some super-comfy legging jeans that actually have a high enough waistband that you can squat down with confidence, you should get over to Madewell and try these on!

Floppy Cheetah Hat

Friday, January 31, 2014

This is what I wore to my yearly health screening for work. You know, just your typical everyday giant floppy Cheetah hat...

I saw this hat on Instagram and wrestled with the actual need to purchase something as ridiculous/amazing as this hat is. In the end I just couldn't put it out of my mind so I bit the bullet and now the floppy friend is all mine.

Layered Up

Tuesday, January 21, 2014

This look included so many layers, even I might not know how many I'm wearing. All I know is that I really wanted to wear some patterns and of course stay warm. Mission accomplished on both counts.

Yellow Silk and Houndstooth Plaid

Monday, January 20, 2014

I've mentioned before that yellow is my second favorite color, which explains why my house is painted bright yellow... and of course pink. It also explains why I needed to round out my silk blouse collection with this yellow beauty.

These Joe Fresh blouses are my favorite simply because they make a great substitution for the Equipment version that I can't afford (although there is this amazing navy one covered in tiny stars and Eiffel towers at Roam Boutique right now in old town on mega sale)! I am a huge promoter of the silk blouse and have even convinced a few of my "business attire" personal shopping clients to fill their closet with a few colors/patterns of these silk shirts. I haven't heard a complaint yet!

SALE ALERT: Over the weekend we stopped into JC Penney on the way home from Wisconsin where I found the above-mentioned Joe Fresh Silk shirts in black, pink, kelly green, and cream for $8 on clearance! Isn't that insane! And while we are on the topic of Joe Fresh sales, I also found their solid colored sweaters for, I kid you not, $3! Of course I bought two of them! A kelly green and a black! Unreal clearance deals. I highly advise you to stop in.

Elbow Patch Blazer

Monday, January 13, 2014

This blazer is right up my alley. Hot pink, hiding out under the collar and in the cuffs! Yes please!

I waited this blazer out from Banana Republic 'til it went on mega sale. I had such a hard time deciding between the light blue, light pink, or gray version of this elbow patch blazer.

Ultimately I decided that I, unlike most people, have enough color in my life and could use a neutral blazer. The details make it stand out, even in this simple shade of gray.

Two-Tone Motorcycle Vest

Tuesday, January 7, 2014

I've had this vest for a very long time now. I originally saw it on Emily from the show "Pretty Little Liars," and I picked it up from Macy's. Usually any purchase from Macy's I will have a coupon for, but this vest just wouldn't budge in price and coupons wouldn't work on it!

I waited it out, and returned it and re-bought it for half the price, and with the help of a gift card it only cost me about $4 when I was finally done.

After that I had been wondering how I was going to wear it until spotting this outfit on Atlantic Pacific and it totally inspired me. Here's my take on her look.

Mental Note

Thursday, December 12, 2013

Mental note: Next time I take outfit pictures in this location, do NOT center my head in a shrub the same color as my hair. That is all.
