One Dress, Two Ways: A Maurice's Giveaway

Tuesday, July 22, 2014

Recently I attended Reward Style's "School Night," where some of their stylish representatives taught us Chicago bloggers some new tips and tricks in the blogging world. The night ended with a goodie bag from sponsor Maurice's, which included some amazing necklaces and this easy-to-wear dress.
So easy to wear, in fact, that blogger buddy Lauren of the blog Lake Shore Lady and I decided to team up and show you just how easy-to-wear this dress really is. Despite our height difference (she is 5'1-1/2" and I'm 5'9") this dress looks great on both of us.

And if you need more proof, see how Lauren styled this dress on her blog today here! And just to make your Tuesday a little brighter, we have a giveaway of $50 in Maurice's Gift cards for you! Enter over on Lauren's blog now! Good Luck!

And if you can't wait, check out my Maurice's picks below. They are having a pretty great bogo apparel sale right now (use code ALLBOGO714) and with their already affordable prices, this makes for one heck of a sale!

Boho Dress

Monday, July 21, 2014

Don't you just love a good easy summer dress. I especially like having a few long sleeve options during the summer because you never know what you're going to get with our Chicago weather.

I've been trying to branch out with silhouettes on dresses and tops in my wardrobe this summer. After looking at everything I wear daily and knowing what shapes I'm drawn too (hello pencil skirt addict), especially when teaching, I never really wear flowy dresses or tops. I guess I've always had it in my head that they make you look bigger, but I see girls wearing them all over the place and never think that they look big. So I have decided maybe I can be one of those floaty-clothes wearing girls too.

My first attempt seen here was super painless because the shirt was gifted to me by Madison and Berkeley when I visited their showroom in NYC a few weeks back. I was surprised how something so loose could still be flattering and comfortable. I think I'm starting to see why so many ladies love these types of pieces.

I'm still working on embracing the "shapeless" trend, but I'd love to hear your thoughts. Anyone else stuck in that same mindset as me? And how do you make those shapeless pieces look so effortless and enviably glam?

An Embellished Friday

Friday, July 18, 2014

This top was an impulse buy from that mega sale that Pipelime was having last week. When they offer 40% off sale prices you jump, right? I got this sequin embellished tank for $24 which is a great deal considering the quality. It's such a quality statement piece for such a great price. I would love to wear it with a bright midi and heels for night out.

I'll be heading out of town for a wedding in St. Louis this weekend but I hope everyone gets a chance to shop the Nordstrom Anniversary sale which is now open to the public! See all my picks here by category! Or if Pinterest is your thing, follow my board for the sale here

Have a great weekend everyone!

These Days Are Mine

Thursday, July 17, 2014

This outfit was worn on a very special day: the last day of school! There were no students there, so we wore whatever would be comfortable for moving boxes of teaching supplies into cabinets and closets. But I, being the organizational freak that I am, was able to quickly put all my pink-labeled bins neatly away in my storage closet with the help of about 90 11-year-old in less than a day! This left me with a whole lot of nothing to do but help fellow teachers with their rooms.

We were dismissed early and a few of us went to brunch to celebrate our new-found freedom. I wore this tee shirt with the days of the week on it to symbolize the days that I am now gaining as my own! Monday through Friday belongs to ME til August 25th, and I plan on enjoying every moment!

Montrose Beach Day

Wednesday, July 16, 2014

What do you do when a friend is in from NYC and wants to go to the beach? Lunch at The Dock on Montrose Beach of course! And what do you do when all your friends look super stylish (especially together) even in the Chicago heat? Feature them my blog of course!

Dr. Jonathan and blogger babe Amy were so much fun to shoot with this fun beach backdrop. I mean could they have played the part any better? Amy may have some practice posing, being that she is a style blogger already, but Jonathan was a natural. Talk about a photogenic fella! I see a menswear blogger in training!

See all of our beach-y shenanigans with outfit details below!
