Lost and Found

You have no idea how long I have waited for J. Crew to release their Cocoon Coat in a vibrant shade of yellow that only J. Crew could produce! They always just nail it with their super saturated colors and there isn't much better than a coat that doesn't blend into the sea of black parkas when winter comes around.

And speaking of not blending in, I'm loving my new red Warby Parker Glasses. Fun fact, I picked these out and when they arrived I realized my husband has the Percey as well, just in a different color! NERDS! I don't need to wear them all the time, mostly just to read if my eyes are tired. They are fun touch to tie in with my thermal.

By the way, this thermal was $10 in the little boys section of Target! Right now it's even on clearance for just $8.50 and also come in blue! I have no shame. If I run into a young lad who's got the same shirt on as I do, I will simply compliment him on his super cool shirt!

I've said it before and I'll say it again, I love a dress with sleeves! This one was a great find from J. Crew Factory clearance that I found in the outlet mall on the way home from a family holiday celebration in Wisconsin. You can get it here right now too!

I wore it over Christmas break while doing a little holiday sale shopping with my blogger buddy Samantha, who snapped these pics for me over by Water Tower.

If you have a shoe size any smaller than mine which is likely (hello size ten big feet!!) you can still probably find these amazing OTK boots of mine from Chinese Laundry that look almost identical to the 50/50 boot for just a fraction of the price. While you're at it you should also pick up some of these Wade and Belle tights. They have the most comfortable no-dig waistband that stays up and oh-so-comfy all day.  No tights waist line detectable through even the tightest of dresses (not that I'm wearing anything like that, but in case you're in need)

Black and Plaid

It's starting to seem like all I do is wear plaid. Tis the season I suppose. Today's look is a super teachery take on the plaid trend, but there are so very many other ways to pull off this cold-weather staple. I've been loving Old Navy's plaid flannel tops that I've worn with both pencil skirts and jeans, They also make for great layering pieces for a pop of color under an otherwise ordinary sweater (love this one on clearance for $18). I've even gone so far as to incorporate plaid into my outerwear with this plaid moto jacket!

I've got a little plaid round-up from bags (how cute is that duffle bag?!) to shoes to help you jump aboard the plaid trend!

Orange You Glad It's Picture Day?

For school picture day I like to pick something that stands out and gives an accurate representation of my style as their teacher so that when my students look back at their class picture and remember me, they think that was my fun 5th grade teacher who always wore bright fun clothes.

I think I succeeded though in representing myself and my everyday style for the class photo which can be especially challenging when all you have to work with is a frame of the neck up. I think my students will remember me well, and if not this silly orange print top will have to jog their memories.

I love when nearly all of my outfit was scored at sale prices! Especially this LOFT camo skirt. This sweatshirt with a mix of fabrics was also a sale find from J. Crew as well as the necklace.

Transition Into Fall

Since summer was such a huge bummer, I'm feeling sad that I barely got to wear some of my super summery pieces. Here is an outfit I put together in efforts to incorporate the colors and textures of summer in a look made for fall.

I never had a chance to wear these flouncy shorts I picked up in Vegas on vacation over the summer break. I decided to dress them up enough that I could wear them to school. Adding in the navy Ann Taylor top and the preppy red accessories made the shortness of the shorts almost unnoticeable.
