Ok, I know it's not THIS cold anymore but still, It's cold. So, funny story about shooting this outfit. Erin and I went at the basketball court to shoot this sporty look and I put the scarf and hat down on a bench. After about 3 cold coatless minutes, I threw everything back on (so I thought) and jumped back in my car. 

Later that night I could not find this scarf! I mean, how does a person loose a whole blanket scarf?! It has the word "blanket" in it, It's not like those just disappear. But mine did! 

After 2 weeks of looking everywhere I gave in and finally ordered a new one. It's less than $15 bucks on eBay so it's not like loosing an investment piece, but I was still upset on principal alone. 

Where ever you are blanket scarf, I hope you are happy.

White Christmas at Music Box Theater

Like all of you, I have been so very busy spending some of this luxurious time off with friends and family. One of my very favorite holiday traditions is this one I started with my husband the year we got married. For the last 4 years, on Christmas Eve day, we go to the Music Box Theater to see White Christmas! I love that this is something he and I have always gotten to do together, just us, and that we both love it so much. Aside from it just being a fun holiday experience, the movie is such a great classic. It plays as a double feature with It's a Wonderful Life but we just like to go for White Christmas. Durning the intermission there is sing-along-caroling on the screen with Santa too. 

If you have never been to this 31 year old tradition and live in Chicago, keep this in mind for next year. I promise you will have a magical and unforgettable time!

It's starting to seem like all I do is wear plaid. Tis the season I suppose. Today's look is a super teachery take on the plaid trend, but there are so very many other ways to pull off this cold-weather staple. I've been loving Old Navy's plaid flannel tops that I've worn with both pencil skirts and jeans, They also make for great layering pieces for a pop of color under an otherwise ordinary sweater (love this one on clearance for $18). I've even gone so far as to incorporate plaid into my outerwear with this plaid moto jacket!

I've got a little plaid round-up from bags (how cute is that duffle bag?!) to shoes to help you jump aboard the plaid trend!

We are right around the time of the school year where I'm willing to do anything to make it more tolerable just so I can make it to Christmas break. I pretty much have been wearing nothing that isn't comfortable and warm to get me through to this Friday. These Old Navy flannels I picked up have been on repeat with skirts, jeans and jeggings. They offer comfort and color which is a must-have in my wardrobe.

Wish me luck. Only 3 more school days till break!!

Plaid Moto Jacket

I've been waiting for a chance to non ironically wear this plaid moto jacket I picked up at Forever 21. You see, it worked really well with my Halloween costume when I was Paul Bunyan at school.  The costume was pretty great if you want to check it out here.

I love the combo of bright primary colors, and yellow is my second favorite color so you can only imagine how happy I was to find this lone cashmere sweater at the new Nordstrom Rack opening in South Loop on the clearance rack for under $40!

On a personal side note, in an effort to maintain my sanity this winter I'm going to cut back to 3 posts a week, Monday, Wednesday and Friday. I'm going to soon be overwhelmed with home projects so I'll be very busy. And if you have any great home decor/furniture sites you love, I'm in the market, so please feel free to share! Mad For Plaid

So many plaid pieces, so little time. Plaid is one of those patterns that gets me excited for Fall and colder temps. In fact this plaid moto jacket I picked up last week has been on heavy rotation lately.  Since it seems the cold is here to stay, I've rounded up some of my favorite plaid pieces at affordable prices!  Most under $50!

Perfect Fall Day

These pics are from our trip to Door County, Wis. this past weekend. The weather was perfect! It was cool and fall-like, and the clouds were amazing everywhere we looked! 

Our group of six went to a "fish boil" (has anyone ever heard of that or done that?), took in the beautiful sky, played some fun board games, did a little ghost hunting and celebrated our friend Tara's birthday! Big thanks go out to her for getting us all together for a much-needed weekend with great friends!

These earrings are a shout out to my girl Darby of Obviously Obsessed, who mentioned tiny bowed earrings in a post of hers (see it here) awhile back. They were in my head when I saw these adorable little sparklers a few weeks back. These have a tiny gold bow on top of a domed sparkly base! My new favs from Forever 21!
