Zara cape (it runs super large, mine is an xs) // Old Navy Flannel // Shoemint Booties // Rebecca Minkoff Love Crossbody // Loft long pencil skirt // Urban Outfitters hat // Forever 21 Necklace // Michael Kors "Bradshaw" watch

I LOVE this cape. Really and truly. It was one of those things where I tried it on and knew I had to have it. I have other capes, lots of them. But this one was different. The color is perfection and the details, down to the contrasting inside lining had me at first glance. It was over before it began. I have pretty much been wearing it every day to work. It's so easy to throw over a big bulky sweater and still be able to bend my arms driving to work. It's basically a blanket with arm holes and I'm not mad about that at all.

I am a little mad at the price of mine, but I found you some at much more reasonable prices!
*And some that are not but too good to not take a look at.

Orange & Camo

Thursday, October 31, 2013

This jacket cost me $3.37!! I know. Let me break it down for you.

I had a gift card sitting in my bag for over a year. Then, the coat was marked down to 49.99. Then, there was an extra 50% off. After the discount and the gift card I only owed $3.37! What a find!

I'd like to say I'm wearing orange in honor of Halloween, but I'm wearing it instead in honor of a great friend who passed away recently. This was what I wore to his benefit, and his favorite color was orange. That was the very least I could have done to honor such an amazing person.

Stay safe out there tonight all of you Halloween revelers.

A Night at the Theater

Thursday, February 21, 2013

I have been meaning to post this outfit from last weekend. I was a little bummed that I didn't get a chance to take it in the sunlight, but inside the Looking Glass Theater on Michigan Avenue will have to do.

My husband and I were lucky enough to get tickets from a friend to go see "Bengal Tiger at the Baghdad Zoo" on press night. It was definitely as "intense" as our friend told it was going to be.

You may have seen this sparkly Oia Jules rose gold bracelet if you follow me on Facebook or Instagram (jillstyle55)! I just can't get enough of it. And while I'm on the subject of jewelry I can't stop wearing, I have once again worn my Jacqueline necklace c/o Anna at Lia Sophia. I said it one and I'll say it again, it really does go with EVERYTHING!

The Windy City

Monday, January 21, 2013

I am channeling Jenna Lyons of J Crew from her recent piece in Glamour Magazine

I knew I already had all the pieces to recreate her look (ironically none from J Crew) but never thought to put them all together. See the pic of Jenna that inspired this outfit below!

It was so windy out that it was really hard to keep the layers down long enough to photograph them. Take a look at the last picture to see just what kind of wind I was dealing with. Probably should have just put my hair in a ponytail!

I saw this in Glamour and instantly loved it!

THIS is how windy it was and what 95% of the pictures looked like!

Under the Influence

Monday, November 5, 2012

You may have noticed from my blog profile picture that I already own this Painters tee in another stripe color pattern. I have had the tan and black one for a while but when I saw this blue and white one on Possessionista.com (LOVE HER!) on this post from the show "The New Girl' where Jess wore it in the opening scene, I knew I had to have it! Off to the phones I went where the good people at J Crew hunted one down for me and shipped it over with 25% off the sale price too!

And in case you haven't seen enough capes from me, here is cape number 3! Only one more left in the collection.

In Bloom

Monday, October 29, 2012

I have had these floral jeans for a long time now. I even asked you readers help me decide on a pair when I ordered them back in August on this post! You picked well! Truth is I had trouble figuring out what to wear with them so I took the easy way out and paired them with a navy painters tee from J crew. When in doubt, can't go wrong with a solid, right?

Btw, what did you all think of the bonus post this Saturday?  Something you would like to see more of in the future? And if so let me know what kinds of items you would like me to gather up and find.

My Favorite Street

Tuesday, October 9, 2012

There's a historic block of homes down by Whitney Young High School (near Jackson and Ashland on Chicago's near west side) that is just so pretty, especially around this time of year. So when we passed by there on our Saturday morning errands, we knew it would make a great background for pictures.

This outfit is made up of pretty random older pieces that I have owned for a while, so unfortunately pretty much everything is not available for purchase online.  Sorry folks, you know how much I love to steer you in the right purchasing direction!

So tell me, what do you think of the darker hair? I'm loving it and hope you are as well. Feels much more Fall-like to me.
