Brooklyn Brights

Wednesday, July 23, 2014

This is an outfit from a few weeks back when I was in NYC. This is from our day of bumming around Brooklyn. We were staying in Greenpoint and walked to Williamsburg to explore. I didn't get the memo that I wasn't supposed to dress like a J. Crew add to fit in, so I kind of felt out of place. This lady isn't as cool as the kids of Williamsburg.

Thanks Brooklyn for making me feel like an old lady, I still love you anyway.

Absolute Bliss: Santorini

Thursday, August 15, 2013

I don't even know how to describe how amazing Santorini is. We arrived at sunset, and it was like heaven on earth.

I've been to a number of beautiful countries all over the world, but none more insanely, unbelievably gorgeous as Santorini. It's almost as if you are afraid to take your eyes off of it, in fear of missing something. And everywhere new you look is just something incredible.

Our hotel, Absolute Bliss in the city of Imerovigli, was recommended by one of my favorite bloggers Liz. (And if you want to experience some severe travel envy, check out her blog.) Every room comes with its own large private balcony, and ours had a jacuzzi to watch the sunset from as well. We were greeted with a bottle of wine and such warm hospitality. The staff was amazing! They helped us plan everything we did in the days to come, and they even offered to lend us cash if we needed to borrow some!! I mean really, who does that? Sometimes family members aren't even that generous or trusting!

If you are thinking of ever staying in Santorini, I can't recommend this hotel enough. Take a look below at just what the first night there was like. Enjoy.

Our balcony where we enjoyed our welcome wine.

The sunset view from our room.

Guests at the neighboring hotels were enjoying the sunset too!

This is just a small preview of the view down from our room. There were LOTS of stairs involved.

Sunset Stroll in Naxos

Friday, August 9, 2013

Another very picture-heavy post from a long walk around Naxos at sunset.

We started at the spice market and then strolled down by the ocean front to watch yet another gorgeous Grecian sunset. I'm going to let the many pictures do the talking.

The spice market down the road from our hotel.

Shopping for my favorite and only coffee sweetener, cinnamon.

The waterfront is the main part of town and lined with so many restaurants, it's hard to pick just one.

A pretty white-washed lounge area.

My husband gives the view a thumbs-up!

Dress: H&M
Sandals: "Trina" by Sam Edelman (they broke that night but Zappos was kind enough to send me a new pair for free!)

Cobalt Maxi

Friday, July 26, 2013

I'm pretty terrible at making a ponytail look special. It usually winds up looking exactly the same every time. This time, however, I decided to give it my all by breaking out the teasing comb and adding a little volume. Still not a monumental difference, but at least I tried.

Any suggestions on how you add some oomph to your pony tail? If you have a tutorial or suggestion, share in the comments below!

P.S I will be back mid-week from my honeymoon, so that will all from me until I return home.

Dress: Forever 21 (from last summer but super cute option here from Piperlime)
Sandals: Sam Edelman "Trina" (on sale now!)
Necklace and bracelet: Vintage via the Randolph Street Market
Scarf: Gap (similar here)
Sunglasses: Taste of Randolph Street Fest (similar here)

Lace Baseball Hat

Wednesday, July 24, 2013

I'm pretty sure the words "lace" and "baseball hat" have never been used together, but here they are, and paired with a skirt nonetheless!

My hair could not be allowed out on such a humid day so I had to contain it. This cap has been sitting in my closet since I heard the first whispers of the baseball hat trend months ago, yet I never really found a chance to wear it (it really didnt go with my professional teacher look).

Making the best of bad hair days - yet another reason I love summer accessories.

Last Day in New York

Monday, July 1, 2013

This was the last day we spent in New York. We decided to get all touristy and went on the double-decker tour bus for the day, where we enjoyed some beautiful weather and sunshine. We also stopped in Soho to do some shopping. Tomorrow will be the last post from NY and I've been saving it until the end. It's a peek inside my very favorite new store in Soho! I cant wait to show you! Til then...

The pretty pink wall in the W Hotel lobby. How could I not take a picture in front of a pink wall?

Tour bus fun.

A successful trip for both Amanda and I in the lovely Sam Edelman store! I got the purse you see me carrying and put my old one in the shopping bag.

Back at the W to get our luggage and then head over to La Guardia to go back to Chicago. Sorry for the creepy dude hangin' out in the background!

Blazer: Uniqlo

Sandals: Sam Edelman "Trina" (my FAVORITE sandals)
