Maxi dress: Vintage from Decades in SLC // Necklace: (old) J. Crew // Glasses: Warby Parker // Bag: Rebecca Minkoff c/o // Booties: Shoemint (old favorites)

As I was saying Monday, I finally got to partake in some good ol' fashioned blogger fun during Utah Fashion Week. There was a daywear fashion show that I attended wearing this gorgeous vintage maxi. Another vintage score from Decades SLC! I wish I could say this is the last thing from there you are going to see but I've got two more vintage beauties on the back burner. One is summer appropriate so maybe it can come out and play soon.  I so desperately want to shoot that summer piece at this amazing bubble wall that I can see on my way to my husband's work, but it is in a locked field! Trust me, we tried to get in.
I'm loving finding fun new walls to shoot at in Salt Lake, mostly because unlike in Chicago, you don't feel like a jerk blocking a wall where hundreds of people are trying to walk. Here I have them pretty much all to myself which also makes for quicker and less awkward photo shoots. Not to mention there is parking by every single spot! Almost impossible in Chicago! Also, I haven't had a single cat call while shooting which pretty much went with the territory in Chicago. Blogging is all around way less creepy in Utah. Haha.

This looks is from the Utah Fashion Week kick-off party. My blogger buddy Sandy (who also took these picks for me) and I went to get a little dinner before the party. I was really excited to go because it was really pretty much my first blogger event in Utah and I was finally going to get to meet so many of the lovely ladies I had been creeping on, on Instagram since before I moved here. Don't judge. You know you'd do it to if you were moving somewhere entirely new! Unlike most people, I kind of love to strike up converstations with new people. needless to say, I chatted with a bunch of gals that I'm now happy to call friends.

Soon I'll feature the other pretty vintage dress I got at Decades here in SLC. It's seriously the most well organized, affordable and well kept vintage store I've ever been in. And it's ENORMOUS! Every time I go in there  find something new and awesome. I love their scarf bin (non-vintage one I'm in love with currently) and even managed to find a few that I sent home to some of my favorite Chicago girls!

Vintage Pleated Dress

Friday, July 11, 2014

You can tell these outfit pictures are from when school was still in session by the lack of a smile on my face. Since school has been out my smiles are much bigger and my need for sunglasses is more about sun actually being in my eyes rather than hiding the bags underneath them.

This dress is one of my favorite vintage finds that I scored a few years back for less than $40. I love a good vintage find that still looks as if it could be modern. The cut of this dress totally reminds me of this one on sale at J. Crew that I just tried on a few days ago. And with my red hair that unintentionally flips at the ends, I decided to embrace the retro look with these orange rimmed sunglasses, a favorite gold vintage bracelet, and a red lip. I kept it ladylike and professional with these nude bow pumps from Ann Taylor.

Striped Dress

Tuesday, May 27, 2014

This random warm weather really throws me for a loop when getting dressed in the morning. How hot will it be? Will it drop by night time? Who knows!

I began digging out old summer clothes to accommodate these types of days and came across this dress from Joe Fresh last year. To make it seem different than other times I had worn it, I added this vintage dragonfly scarf that I picked up at the Randolph Street Market! Another great and comfy old purchase was these tiger loafers from Zara last year.

Cobalt Maxi

Friday, July 26, 2013

I'm pretty terrible at making a ponytail look special. It usually winds up looking exactly the same every time. This time, however, I decided to give it my all by breaking out the teasing comb and adding a little volume. Still not a monumental difference, but at least I tried.

Any suggestions on how you add some oomph to your pony tail? If you have a tutorial or suggestion, share in the comments below!

P.S I will be back mid-week from my honeymoon, so that will all from me until I return home.

Dress: Forever 21 (from last summer but super cute option here from Piperlime)

Vintage Pearl and Floral

Thursday, April 18, 2013

In an attempt to make my floral pants look less like pajamas (which is what one of my students told me they looked like last time I wore them), I paired them with this solid black sweater and white collared shirt with a vertical contrast stripe. I also added a matchy-but-not-matching vintage-pearl-necklace-and-earrings combo!

White Blouse: Forever 21
Floral pants: H&M (buy here)
Necklace: eBay (vintage) for just $3!!

Zou Bisou Bisou

Friday, April 5, 2013

I think that the upcoming Mad Men season premiere this Sunday has been creeping into my head.

When when I put this blouse on after I flipped the ends of my hair, I suddenly transformed into Megan Draper! I decided to run with it and poof up the back of my hair and wear my gold vintage necklace and ankle strap snake skin pointy toe flats!

I promise that I did not try to do a Zou Bisou Bisou reenactment of her birthday gift to Don! But if you want to see the video, look below!

Nautical Blouse: Forever 21 (buy here)
Leggings: Aritzia
Collar necklace: Forever 21 (buy here for just $8.80)
Longer fringe necklace: Vintage
Nails: Essie "Bond With Whomever" (my new favorite color!!)

And in case you have no clue what I'm talking about...

Shifty Dress

Thursday, December 6, 2012

The day these pics were taken, I went to Old Navy where I found this dress on the clearance rack for $18 (cheaper than listed on the website so check your local store) and then got the cardholder 30% off discount. Not a bad deal at all!

When I saw my friend Anna later that night she said she read the mixed reviews and opted against buying this dress. So buyer beware. Old Navy dresses have never fit me right, so if you are interested in this dress go to the store and try it on in multiple versions of the same size because they all seem to fit a little different! Mine is a medium if that helps.

They had this dress in pink too but I liked this purple/pink shade better. Anyone else have this dress or tried it on? Did you like it?

J Crew, I Love You!

Friday, October 26, 2012

This outfit is proof of the J Crew rampage I have been on recently. Those folks have been putting out a new sale every few day! How is a girl supposed to resist such fabulous colors and prints?! AND the 15% teacher discount? I mean really, I had no choice!

I still haven't worn the hot pink version (on sale!!) of this skirt which is just a shame, but I hope it will come out soon. Probably with this same belt but a navy painters tee instead of this trusty snowcat button-down.

Belt: J Crew Factory store, Skirt: J Crew (on sale here), Button down: J Crew Boy Shirt in Snowcat, Studded Flats: C Label Hudson 10, Wrap Watch: La Mer, Nails (my new favorite Fall shade that doesn't sound fall-like at all) Bahama Mama by Essie, Pin: Vintage

Pumpkin Patch

Friday, October 19, 2012

On our way home from Milwaukee this past weekend we decided to stop at a pumpkin patch to get a pumpkin for my classroom. It's pretty safe to say we were the only couple there without children of our own.
As you can see I went with a small one. I have no intention of carving the little guy and will be giving it away to one of my students in just a few short weeks.

When I put this poncho on in the store I loved it, however when my husband first saw it his words were "that is ridiculous." I told him just you wait, I bet at least one girl will compliment me on it during the day and sure enough 2 separate girls stopped me to tell me how cute they thought it was! Ha, take that Andrew!
Needless to say he does not like it, but I still do!

What are your thoughts on ponchos/capes? Are they one of those items only women like but guys just don't understand? Or am I all alone in this?

Chambray top and Poncho (buy here): Target, Jeans: H&M, Booties: Forever 21, Tassel pin: vintage Etsy last seen here on the blog, Sunglasses: Target, Purse: Aldo Outlet

Tonight I am heading out to the Art of Fashion show presented by Style Chicago at Millennium park! This has become my favorite fashion event of the year and I'm super excited...and still have no idea what to wear! Hopefully I will come up with something fabulous by tonight!

Have a great weekend and thanks for reading!

Hot Pink and Oxblood

Tuesday, October 16, 2012

I had seen a few other lovely bloggers pair hot pink and oxblood lately, so I decided to try it out. It's an unexpected color combination that pairs surprisingly well together. It worked so well I tried each twice, layering the pink necklace on pink sweater and oxblood boots over oxblood leggings.

What do you think? Would you try this color combo?

Sweater: Tippi from J Crew (same color here), Leggings: Zara (same, but different color options here), Bubble necklace and Spike arrow bracelet: Ebay, Dark pink bracelet: Vintage via Etsy, Boots: Etienne Aigner (buy here from DSW), Sunglasses: Target.
