Peplum and a Bow

Tuesday, September 11, 2012

I don't know how many times I've looked at this white peplum top since I bought it back in June on a trip to NYC but decided not to wear it. Maybe it was the fear of getting it dirty, maybe I feel like peplum has taken over my wardrobe and needed a change, or maybe there is no good reason. And so for that very reason I decided I must wear it before it starts to accumulate dust.

Does anyone else do this? Not wear something you love for no real reason?

I think I need to break this habit.

I've got a few items like this in my closet: particularly a pair of beautiful purple Minnies from J Crew; a black "leather" skirt from Forever 21 and a Zara blazer that is just waiting for a cooler day.

While we are on the subject of forgotten clothes, let's talk about this necklace. I ordered it as a "I'm-$5-away-from-free-shipping-on Forever's-website-so-I'll-add this-to-my-cart" item. I thought it was going to be a sweet dainty little bow, but it turned out that in real life its actual size was closer to that of a chicken nugget! And the chain was long too! So I tied the chain up and decided why not wear it with my too-long-forgotten peplum top and these surprisingly comfy wedges that had also been hanging out on the shoe rack for longer than I can remember.

And there you have it, an outfit of old but revived pieces!

Memphis Wedding Fun!!

Friday, September 7, 2012

What happens when the oldest of friends get together for a wedding? Well just to name a few: nine-hour road trips, a speeding ticket (my very first in my whole life... sorry officer, I was going fast because there was a lull in the HURRICANE I was driving through), drinks, more drinks, trolly rides, lots of coffee and of course some Cracker Barrel.

And most importantly a SUPER FUN wedding! Jay and Shelly, I couldn't be happier for both of you!

This dress was actually in my donate pile for quite some time but I recently tried it on again and discovered I still kinda like it! I love when that happens!

 Trolly fun!

A Classic Maxi

Thursday, September 6, 2012

I wore this dress to work where it fit the classy yet comfortable bill. I just love the ruffle down the side that gathers at the hip. It provides such a figure-flattering shape that feels great.

This was a score from my Vegas trip a few weeks back... oh summer, I miss you. At least I have the memories (and purchases) to bring a little sunshine to my days.

I picked this dress up for just $30 at the Ann Taylor in Cesar's Palace Forum shops! Crazy cheap, i know! The sales woman informed me it went on sale that day, so I guess I was just in time. You can find it on sale here for $50 which still isn't bad for a super-high-quality maxi dress with an extra bit of flair!

I also got this headband the same day for just 15 bucks were I found it all by its lonesome, in a sale bin at Anthropologie in the Forum Shops. Overall it will go down in history as an excellent vacation shopping day!

Girl on Fire

Tuesday, September 4, 2012

I do not have Hunger Games fever but I do look like a girl on fire in this outfit, just like Katniss. And since a coworker of mine is pretty much obsessed with the books, even time I looked at her in all her Hunger Games gear it was easy to think of a name for this post!

I really haven't worn this necklace in a long while. I feel like I've been seeing variations of it all over the place lately and decided to give it a comeback since its been in my collection for a few years now.

I was very happy to finally wear my new J Crew "perfect shirt" because lets face it, the name says it all. I got this on major sale a couple weeks back but it's been so hot I waited to wear until I was drowning in AC at my new school! It truly was perfect!
