Sometimes you walk into a store and find exactly what you were NOT looking for. An item speaks to you, and what it says is "game over, I'm coming home with you."

This is exactly what happened with these sun glasses. It took me about a half second to realize they needed to be mine. I found them in the Bloomingdales outlet on a shopping field trip to the Chicago Fashion Outlets with Sam and Shaheen. They were even having a sale where the whole store was buy one item, get the second half off. I left with Prada sunglasses and Coach loafers for under $200!!

Anthropologie Peplum Top

First of all, I just wanted to thank everyone who came out to LOFT last night! I had so much fun and loved seeing each and every one of you! Hope you all had as much fun as I did.

I found this scalloped peplum top in the Anthropologie fresh cuts section and couldn't wait to wear it, so that's just what I did that very weekend. For the early part of the day this outfit was fine for the outdoor party we attended, but as the night went on it got so chilly that I had to throw on my Lulu hoodie that I keep in my car. Very chic, I know.

Btw, don't mind the bit of bra showing through the peep hole on the back. I'm just going to pretend I meant for it to show.

And finally a teacher rant. Can I just say how nice it is to only carry a purse (now on sale for only $34) instead of a massive tote with my life jammed in it. During the school year I have no choice but to carry a giant bag but with summer break it's small bag and wristlet central around here! I'm loving the lack of back pain and not looking like a bag lady!

Peplum Lady

Some pieces you've just got to hold on to. I've had This peplum skirt since before I even knew what peplum was and certainly before peplum became a trend! I picked it up at H&M long ago and has held it's ground through many a closet clean out. Sometimes you just get it right and a piece works for years!

Farewell Tribute to Greece

What to do if your hotel is literally across the street from the airport? Go take pictures before the sun sets of course!

I had this top left in my luggage and I realized it made a nice tribute to Greece, being the colors of the flag and all. 

I'm so happy with our whole experience in Greece. I'm glad too that we waited almost two years after we got married to go on our honeymoon, because we both needed a good long trip. The memories are just incredible and the sights will be forever in my mind; whenever I need them I know just were they are. 

I hope you enjoyed this long trip down a not-so-distant memory lane. I'm so happy I got to share it with you and maybe I've even inspired some of you to book a trip!

Peplum + Black & White Floral Pants

You may remember (from Facebook and Instagram) the cute storm of a mermaid modeling shoot my adorable niece Allie was in last weekend. 

Tomorrow's blog post will be a behind-the-scenes look at the shoot, and info about where you can get your own mermaid tails for all the little girls in your life. And even better, I will be hosting a "mermaid tail" giveaway for one lucky reader!

This is what I wore to take my niece to the mermaid shoot. I'm not embarrassed to say that my outfit's cuteness pales in comparison to the sweet little mermaids that were hopping all around me in their tails last weekend.

Eyelet Peplum

I picked up this top in Vegas when my husband was on one of his rare but delightful shopping benders at H&M. 

This top was tossed on his purchase pile without much notice. I like to call that "he bought me a present" even though I know that's not the case.

These wedges have also been with me since that days when we used to call that lovely department store on State Street "Marshall Fields!" Talk about an oldie but goodie!

If you haven't tried on these Diva skinny ankle pants from Old Navy, please do yourself a favor and give 'em a whirl! I've seen them look and fit differently on 3 separate people, but one thing that everyone agrees on is the comfort of this stretchy material. I found mine in the clearance section, but they are still online as well.

Vegas: Last Night

Since the whole reason we were here was my husband's work conference at the Palms, we didn't have any time together during the day. So our last night in Vegas was a date night. We had a nice dinner but then it was early to bed because I had a 6 a.m. flight.

Don't be jealous but tomorrow I will be heading out on yet another trip with my husband for his job. We will be going to San Francisco for the weekend which is a place we have wanted to visit together for years now and it's finally going to happen. Can't wait!

Vegas: After a Day of Shopping

Sometimes I'm not even sure why I bring clothes with me to Vegas. After my morning of shopping I acquired this top and skirt. All in a day's work.

I can't say no to a cute peplum top and for this price, who could? Also you may remember the print of this skirt from these posts (here and here). I saw it at the H&M in Caesars Palace for $10 so I had to get it!
