There is so much I just love in this outfit! Let's start with these boots. They are amazing knock-offs of the Stuart Weitzman 50/50 boots. The suede is gorgeous, they are truly OTK boots even on a tall girl like me, and the best part they are about 1/7th of the price!! They are on sale here at Nordstrom, Macys, and Zappos! Get em while you can!

This Loft skirt I liked so much I bought in 2 colors. This hunter green and also winter white. It was on sale for 60% off the sale price so I couldn't say no. Something about the sweet little flare shape doesn't make it seem so short and inappropriate for teaching, as long as it's worn with tights and boots or flats.

This was also the first time I tested out my AMAZING new GHD oval curling wand! It gives you these great denty waves that look like intentional bed-head! That't the best way I can think of describing it.

This statement necklace was a recent find at H&M! For under $20 it packs quite a punch, don't you think? Easily adds so much to a simple sweater like my tan cable knit one.

I also broke out the Mac classic, Ruby Woo, for my holiday look. It's such a great true shade of red and I think it looks great on so many different skin tones.

White Christmas at Music Box Theater

Like all of you, I have been so very busy spending some of this luxurious time off with friends and family. One of my very favorite holiday traditions is this one I started with my husband the year we got married. For the last 4 years, on Christmas Eve day, we go to the Music Box Theater to see White Christmas! I love that this is something he and I have always gotten to do together, just us, and that we both love it so much. Aside from it just being a fun holiday experience, the movie is such a great classic. It plays as a double feature with It's a Wonderful Life but we just like to go for White Christmas. Durning the intermission there is sing-along-caroling on the screen with Santa too. 

If you have never been to this 31 year old tradition and live in Chicago, keep this in mind for next year. I promise you will have a magical and unforgettable time!

Black and Plaid

It's starting to seem like all I do is wear plaid. Tis the season I suppose. Today's look is a super teachery take on the plaid trend, but there are so very many other ways to pull off this cold-weather staple. I've been loving Old Navy's plaid flannel tops that I've worn with both pencil skirts and jeans, They also make for great layering pieces for a pop of color under an otherwise ordinary sweater (love this one on clearance for $18). I've even gone so far as to incorporate plaid into my outerwear with this plaid moto jacket!

Shopping Madness

The internet is one giant blur of pretty things that I've seen over the last few weeks and to be honest, that blur was full of holiday sparkle. There is so much out there to love, so with that I give you this mish-mosh of pieces that have caught my attention. This completely random compilation of gifts for you or whoever in your life enjoys pretty things will calm your sparkle craving heart. I wouldn't be mad at anyone who got me one of these pieces. We are right around the time of the school year where I'm willing to do anything to make it more tolerable just so I can make it to Christmas break. I pretty much have been wearing nothing that isn't comfortable and warm to get me through to this Friday. These Old Navy flannels I picked up have been on repeat with skirts, jeans and jeggings. They offer comfort and color which is a must-have in my wardrobe.

Orange You Glad It's Picture Day?

For school picture day I like to pick something that stands out and gives an accurate representation of my style as their teacher so that when my students look back at their class picture and remember me, they think that was my fun 5th grade teacher who always wore bright fun clothes.

I think I succeeded though in representing myself and my everyday style for the class photo which can be especially challenging when all you have to work with is a frame of the neck up. I think my students will remember me well, and if not this silly orange print top will have to jog their memories.

Oh boy, has life been crazy lately! Forgive me for the lack of posting but with all the home renovations and family stuff that has come up, I've been kinda MIA. Slap this cold weather on top of that and you have even more reason for not wanting to take pictures. I promise, I'll be back in full effect soon. Just one more work week of teaching till Christmas break! Hooray! 

Kalla for the Holidays

Kalla was kind enough to send over this absolutely breathtaking arrangement of gigantic pink roses (known as Bea & and the Lady) that simply smelled like heaven on earth. The vase is just the cutest too.
