Vegas Blogcation

Friday, August 1, 2014

{Image borrowed from Rachel from Rachel's Look Book}

Most normal families go to family friendly locations to spend time together on vacation, but in my family, when you grew up with a dad who owned race horses and dressed you up in pink baby jockey uniforms, then your family goes to the gambling capital to spend quality time together.

I'm not a gambler, I prefer to spend my money on things I can wear or see, so I will be spending time with my fashionista-in-training niece Allie at Fashion Show Mall and Caesars Forum Shops because that's how we Hovanes Gals do Vegas!

Other than that it will be pool time with the whole family at the Mirage and date nights with Andrew. We may even bring the niece and nephew along for a date too!

And to truly make this a vacation, I'm taking the week off blogging. I will be Instagraming constantly I'm sure, so keep up with me there and on Facebook!

Don't worry, I wouldn't do you like that, leave you high and dry on a Friday without planting a little shopping seed in your head. Let me share with you the miracle that happened yesterday at Woodfield Mall. I went to Lord and Taylor to return a pair of shoes and walked past a huge rack of bathing suits all for just $39! Now since this is a family trip, I was in need of some modest one-piece suits, and they had a ton! I actually found two adorable ones which is unheard of in bathing suit shopping history. And to prove it I rounded up all these one piece suits that are all just $39! Believe it! Shop it. Also an additional 15% off regular and sale price items and 20% off clearance online with promo code SAVINGS.

Have a great week everyone!

Vegas: After a Day of Shopping

Wednesday, May 8, 2013

Sometimes I'm not even sure why I bring clothes with me to Vegas. After my morning of shopping I acquired this top and skirt. All in a day's work.

I can't say no to a cute peplum top and for this price, who could? Also you may remember the print of this skirt from these posts (here and here). I saw it at the H&M in Caesars Palace for $10 so I had to get it!

Vegas: Daytime Casual

Tuesday, May 7, 2013

In all of Las Vegas, I might have been the only person wearing a blazer who wasn't a hotel employee.

Mine however is super thin and casual. A vacation blazer if you will. It's like a slighlty structured and polka-dotted hoodie that gave me a nice little layer of warmth that was much-needed during my shopping trip over to Fashion Show Mall!

I wasn't adjusted to the time difference the first day, so I was up really early. I took a cab over to the mall and got there just as they opened. It was really nice to leisurely shop on a weekday morning. Everything in the stores was so perfectly organized, like it was all waiting just for me.

If you didn't see on Instagram, my favorite purchase of the day was a beautiful elongated vest in the softest blush shade now on sale here

Vegas: Night Out

Monday, May 6, 2013

Yes, I was only in Las Vegas for three days.

But Vegas comes with a three-outfit-per-day rule. Every day calls for one daytime outfit, one pool outfit and one going out/nighttime outfit.

The good news is that most of those pieces are small and easy to pack. But the problem for me is always that I also want to bring about six pairs of shoes and that eats up a lot of luggage space. Then there is the looming problem of shopping too much while there, and running out of space in my luggage to bring it all back.

This is the awesome H&M in Caesar's Palace Forum shops. My husband swears they are pumping oxygen in there and it causes him to make bad decisions and buy tons of clothes outside of his comfort zone. I approve because he always winds up with some very stylish pieces.

With three outfits being worn each day, you can count on more outfit pics from Vegas this week, and if you want to see what this night out in Vegas had in store for us check out my Instagram! It was pretty sweet!

Dress: Forever 21(similar here, my exact dress is not yet on the website but was in the store for $15!)
Shoes: Forever 21 (so comfy and look way more expensive than F21)

Hello Vegas

Friday, May 3, 2013

Aside from yesterday, It's been hotter than Las Vegas right here in Chicago, but I think that was just a funny little trick Chicago was playing on us all. It's over now, put your sweaters and coats back on. It's a good thing too because like a fool, I bought two long sleeved items in Vegas. At least I can wear them now.

Until the weather warms up again, enjoy these pictures from what I assure you was delightful weather  on our trip last week to Vegas!

If you remember long ago from this picture, making it look like things are coming out of my head is the fun my husband is having when he takes my pictures.
Dress: TJ Maxx (last seen here)
Shoes: Macys INC
Purse: H&M(bought in Vegas last summer. There is a more purple version in stores now.)
Pink necklace and bracelet: Forever 21
Sunglasses: Target

Sparkly Yet Casual

Friday, August 24, 2012

I'm going to say it, I was COLD in Las Vegas! Even though it was 107 outside, every hotel, restaurant, casino and shopping center overcompensated by being freezing inside. I knew this fact when packing and brought a few long-sleeve options along with me. And right I was, because I felt perfectly comfortable in this sparkly sweater and white shorts combo. Perfect for a late night walk on the strip.

Pretty stair case we found in City Center

Sparkly sweater: Forever 21(Love 21) similar, Shorts: Loft, Sandals: Zara, Bib Necklace: Forever 21, Bag: H&M

 Bellagio water show.

Chocolate fountains dripping from the ceiling in the Bellagio. Yum!

What a mall looks like at 1:00 in the morning... sad.

For all you Chicago readers, this weekend is the Randolph Street Market & Greek Fest. So if you didn't already have plans, now you do!

Have a great weekend everyone and thanks for reading!
