Winter Wonderland!

Friday, January 4, 2013

These pictures taken in Wisconsin last weekend where they apparently got snow, something we haven't seen very much of in Chicago. We have had frozen ice puddles but no photographable snow. I'm excited to say that this is my first blog post with a snowy background!

I first decided I wanted this red tweed jacket a few weeks back when I saw it on Possessionista.com seen on Rachel Bilson but it was sold out online. When my husband and I were shopping I happened to come across one that was a size too big but was later able to exchange it on State Street for the correct size!

It's funny: when I look at it on her, it makes me realize how tiny she is and how tall I am . Seriously, the beaded section hits her waist, on me it's a foot above mine! Either way I'm loving it for it's warmth, color, and the fact that my husband bought it for me!

Sunglasses photo bomb by Andrew, my husband.

And now just for fun here is what my husband is doing while I think he is taking a legit picture, making my head look like it's smoking.
He also decided to shoot my "it's really cold" face! Hope you enjoyed those last two pics!

I Might Have a Problem

Thursday, January 3, 2013

I really hope this whole "leather" legging trend stays around because my collection is getting a little out of control. At least all of mine are slightly different and haven't cost over $40! Especially the great deal I got on these on clearance: $11! Really!? Why not? I rationalized purchasing these because they are way thicker (warmer) than my others.

This pair of leggings pairs so well with my favorite old ASOS sweater and my pretty awesome new necklace from my awesome blogger/teacher friend Amy!

By the way if you recall me mentioning Monday that I wore my full "leather" leggings to dinner with my father-in-law, I wore these out to dinner with the parents of my husband's friend! Whats with me and wearing inappropriate pants around parents? I might have some kind of problem.

Can You Tell Which is the Knockoff?

Wednesday, January 2, 2013

I have been in obsessed with these tough little booties since I first saw them, but lets face it, I'm not on a Chloe budget.
Then came the Vince Camuto "Tipper" boots in the Nordstrom catalog which I ordered immediately after seeing them. I kept them in the box for what felt like forever but ultimately decided to return them because I still found them to be a little too pricey.
Then just yesterday, in my January ShoeMint showroom appeared a very similar pair! Since I already had a credit good for one pair of shoes I ordered them with no guilt!
I'm perfectly happy wearing a knockoff that saves me money and hopefully ends my internal struggle with these bold little booties!

Now on to the fun part!
Can you tell the difference? Which do you think are the $1,345 Chloe pair, the $169.00 Vince Camuto pair, or the $79.98 ShoeMint pair?? And no peeking at the answers below! Let me know how you did in the comments below!

Knockoff vs. Ripoff

Answers:
1. Vince Camuto: Tipper boot $168.95
2. Chloe:  Suzanne $1,345.00
3. Shoemint: Francoise $79.98

Hot Pink Pleats

I still have a few days until I have to go back to work but looking at these pics of a work outfit is kind of making me cringe. I have been enjoying winter break so much I wish I never had to go back. If only there was a way to still get paid and not go to work... hmmm.

This is one of three of this J Crew skirt I own, although it's the first time I've worn it (see how I styled my cabernet one here). I don't know why its taken me so long to wear considering I bought in in September but it's now finally made its way out into public! I pretty much wore it all day without the herringbone jacket but I think it made it look more complete for pictures.

The Day After...

Tuesday, January 1, 2013

It's hard to believe that when I bought this orange sweater dress it was August in Las Vegas. Why the heck was I buying sweater anything in summer or in Vegas!? But even harder to believe is that I bought this thinking I could wear it as a dress! Yes, I know it is a dress... for most people. But when you are tall like me things that are dresses on most people become shirts or at best tunics. At least I can wear it with my oxblood boots and Zara leggings.

These pics were taken the day after Christmas where my best friend and I dragged the boys along for some State Street shopping! Boy did they have fun!

My husband and I found this lovely dumpster-filled alley to take pictures in which isn't very pretty but it sure did block the freezing Chicago wind!

Double chain necklace was a gift in my stocking from Santa!
