Navy Pattern Mixing

Tuesday, April 1, 2014

I wore this outfit to my friend Olivia's surprise Birthday party! I got dressed in such a hurry that I didn't realize till later that my necklace was on completely backwards. Oops! At least it was flashy enough that all the detail distracted you from noticing...that is until I told you!

And if you haven't checked out the seriously cute Sam and Libby shoe line for Target,  you simply must! I'm loving my new silver oxfords seen here. Check out some of my favorites  from the collection below!

Copy Cat

Tuesday, December 10, 2013

I'm not even going to pretend I came up with this outfit on my own. When I steal someone's style, I'm pretty forthcoming about it. And this, my friends, was straight-up stolen, head-to-ankle, from Pink Peonies (see her look here).

The sad part is, I sat on this one for more than a year. The only changes I made were swapping out the gold glitter flats for my cheetah-print flats and my bag and sunglasses are brown. Thanks for the inspiration Rach! It was a good one.

First Day in Utah

Tuesday, November 5, 2013

As some of you may have seen via Instagram and Facebook, my husband and I recently took a mini-getaway to the mountains.

It was for a combination of things, really. Our two-year wedding anniversary was the 8th of October; my birthday was the 22nd of October, and Andrew wanted to run a half marathon in the state he was born: Utah.

So this is were it all began! Park City, UT had great accommodations since it was the off season, so we stayed in a ridiculously fancy suite for less than $200 a night! We then went to visit the state capitol building, and then do a little shopping at City Creek Mall in Salt Lake City. A lovely way to begin our vacation.

Stay tuned this week for more from our mountain adventure!

Neutral Territory

Tuesday, October 29, 2013

A few weeks back when I attended the Midwest Style Bloggers Brunch, I was introduced to Langford Market via the brunch goodie bag. The kind ladies over at Langford market gave each blogger a $50 gift card to shop to their hearts desire.

The following weekend I met up with Peggy, whom I also met at the brunch, and browsed the Armitage Ave. location. The store had a lot of cute options (especially the teal fringy dress I tried on) but I decided on a pair of out-of-my-comfort-zone neutral-colored satin pants. Usually I would go for the bright colors but I wanted to try something different. These pants also happen to have an elastic waist band which puts them right in everyone's comfort zone!

Thanks to the lovely ladies over at Langford Market. Stop in and check them out for yourself! Locations here!

Keepin' it Casual

Thursday, October 3, 2013

Me wearing pants in an outfit is pretty uncommon. So when I say these jeans have been on high rotation, you know they are something special! 40% off Sevens, on sale at the Bloomingdales Outlet at the Fashion Outlets of Chicago? Yes, please!

And since we are on the topic of a good sale find, I would like to draw your attention to these super-comfy wedges. I was totally prepared to buy them at J. Crew for the "sale" price of $59, but when I got to the register, they rang up $39!! Then, the 25% off promotion going on brought them down to $29! A steal!!

What sweet sale finds have you scored lately that you are excepitionally proud of?

Green, Yellow and Cheetah

Monday, September 23, 2013

This is what I wore for open house at my school. No parents were going to miss me coming or going! And if it weren't attention-holding enough with all the bright colors, I added the cheetah pumps for a little texture. I had been wearing my favorite neon necklace as well, but forgot to put it back on after I worked out.

I've had my eye on this blouse for some time now. I even recommended it to one of my clients I was shopping for. I finally caved when I saw it in person at the Fashion Outlets of Chicago's J. Crew Factory store. Especially when it was 40% off AND an additional 15% off with my teacher discount! Just another silk blouse to add to my ever-growing collection.

3.1 Phillip Lim for Target

Tuesday, September 17, 2013

I've always been very against buying an insanely expensive "it" bag.

I never understood it. Every girl will soon have your bag or some knockoff version of it, so what kind of individuality of style is that? But then yesterday I saw one solitary 3.1 Phillip Lim bag sitting all by itself at a suburban Target on the morning of the line's debut (this past Sunday) and fell in love. In fact, I was a little angry at the people of the store that they were not fighting me for this bag! How did I get so lucky to be the one who found it?

I then realized that this bag is simply made to love, and it wasn't about having the "it" bag. I just wanted it because it was beautiful. I also understand now after carrying it for a day why all the bloggers have the real one: It holds everything including my big ol' camera, my workout clothes and wallet!

Sitting right next to the super-sparse, picked-over Philli Lim rack was this skirt as well. Only one, and in my size. I picked both up and headed directly to the register.

I couldn't wait to show everyone my finds, so here they are! Did anyone else manage to score any Phillip Lim pieces Sunday? Which ones? Do tell!
