H&M has been putting out these super cheap (usually around $19) dresses that are perfect for summer. The only problem I can find is that the sizing is all jacked up. This dress is a size 2? Guess what everyone, I'm NOT a size two! This was the smallest size it came in but it sure is comfy with the bump. On the other hand these lace up shoes are comfy but it's only a matter of time till I can't reach my feet to tie them! I swore I would only buy/wear slip on sandals this summer...so that's going well! Haha.

These pictures were taken on our drive to Las Vegas over Memorial day Weekend. The night before I was so sick I couldn't tolerate being in my house for one more day! I was so fed up that we hit the road for a quick one-night trip to Vegas, since its just a 5 hr drive! This was just off the highway. It sure makes a 5 hour drive go by fasters when the scenery is this pretty.

I admit, I have this Free People "Perfectly Victorian" dress in two colors because it's just so easy. It's great for pregnancy or anyone who loves a comfy flowy dress and it hides my dreaded pregnant arms! This dress is available in a few places so you can find it here, here and here in different colors.

These pictures were taken in the park right near our house. It's massive and gorgeous, seriously like 4 blocks wide! I had just gotten my hair done by my amazing new friend and fellow redhead Kate! She is great and also the salon, Lunatic Fringe,  she is at, is right down the street from my house! I've never been able to walk to my hair salon before so it's super convenient! I don't think I've ever been so happy about my hair as I have been since I started going to her. Plus the lack of humidity here in SLC is a serious contributing factor. I've never been able to go more than two days without washing my hair, but here I can honestly go 4-5! It's like a dream come true and I think the lack of heat damage is finally making my hair grow!

20 Week Pregnancy Update

Friday, June 17, 2016

You've asked, and I'll try to give some answers. Here are the top five questions I've received about this pregnancy, in no particular order.

Stats
How far along: 20 weeks
Baby's gender: Girl
Due: November 7th

1. How have I been feeling?
Man, I wish I could say I've been good. But it's just been crap to be quite honest. I've been so sick pretty much from week five until now. Pretty solidly nauseous from morning to night every day, vomiting, heartburn, just the works. I held out hope that all those yucky things would subside like everyone said once I made it to the second trimester, but that date came and went seven weeks ago. It is just now, at 20 weeks, that things are getting slightly better since my doctor put me on a couple of different kinds of medications.  As long as I take all of it on time and diligently, it's under control for the most part. The medication part has been really hard for me considering I've never really been one to take medication. I've always been the "tough it out" type, especially with sharing so many germs with my students for years, I'd built up quite a thick skin. Moral of the story is that I guess you never really know what kind of pregnancy you're going to have. Not all are going to be sunshine and roses. This one certainly is NOT! But baby girl is doing great so I guess I can't complain.

2. Do I have plans for the nursery decor?
Ummm... you know I do! Really the funniest part about me having a girl is that in my mind I was always going to have a boy first. So surprisingly enough, even though with my blog being called "Hot Pink Style" you would think I would be geeking out on pink frilly things. That's just not what my vision is! It's actually a little more neutral in shades of gray. I have a fun theme planned out and it's really cool but I'll wait 'til its done to share it with you. Until then you will just have to wait.

3. Where have I been shopping for maternity clothes?
First of all let me just say, I've been considering opening a maternity store and calling it "Tall and Pregnant" because seriously, everything is already just barely long enough on me but when you toss that growing bump into the mix everything becomes shorter by the day!

Thankfully, like the good little personal shopper that I am, I've found the best of the best that's out there and am actually enjoying dressing the bump!

My favorites so far include Topshop, Asos, H&M, Motherhood Maternity, and regular sizes in Free People and Anthropologie.

Topshop makes some really stylish jeans that are also super soft and comfy. Asos has been kind of a life saver because they carry TALL maternity, but unfortunately not much of it. You better believe I scooped up these overalls the second I saw them. They are pretty amazing and seriously more comfortable than most of my pajamas. They also came in short-alls and I grabbed those too.

Motherhood Maternity, although not super glamorous, has really good basics like long tanks and boyfriend jeans. The best item I have found is their maternity underwear. I had no clue how happy good maternity underwear was going to make me until I found these. Also if you have Amazon Prime you can score some great deals or even on Macy's site!! They both carry the brand.

4. Do I plan to go back to teaching after having the baby?
The plan is to take this next year off and then see what I think. I know I eventually want to teach again. I mean, I didn't lug a million boxes of teacher stuff all the way to Salt Lake City to never use them again. I love teaching. I also really loved subbing this year way more than I ever thought I would, but it's not the same as having your own classroom. I want my little girl to know I'm making a difference in kids' lives so I want her to see me being a teacher and doing it well.

5. Do we have a name picked out?
Yes! We kind of always had one, so it was super easy. Andrew and I have been together for 16 years and we have been thinking up nonsense baby names for years. We had two boy names and one girl name picked out and all we needed to know was the gender! When we found out it was a girl we pretty much immediately started calling her Athena! We picked that name out on our honeymoon in Greece, plus I'm Greek and the name sounds like a real badass. Although now that she has been such a pain in the womb, we just might be regretting giving her such a mighty and godly name since she is already showing us just how powerful she really is. She's been kicking my ass since she was five weeks old!

There are many boutiques online that in my opinion prove to be a letdown once you order, but ShopPinkBlush is one of the only trendy online boutiques I have found that provides quality items that cater to ALL women!

PinkBlush is an online women's boutique that carries women's sizes, plus sizes and even maternity wear,  super cute maternity wear at that! I love their huge variety of cute dresses for women of all sizes, especially the maxi dresses considering my height. They also sent over this fun yellow maxi too Thats so easy to throw on and look put together!

The best part of this floral maxi dress I'm wearing is that it is so stretchy and will easily fit now, in a few months and after the baby! That really is something I have been paying attention to when buying maternity clothes. I want to buy things that will fit me both now and later if possible so I can save some money but also have cute clothes that wont just need to be hidden away in the basement in a few months.

If you are looking for some affordable Maternity wear that you wont feel frumpy in, stop over to PinkBlush Maternity! They often run great sales discount codes for 25-40% off your whole order! Also, check my Instagram tonight because I'll be running a $75 dollar giveaway on there too! And don't worry, it's not just for maternity, you can use it for anything! Even a cozy robe to lounge around like this one I've been wearing since it's so light for summer.

Bellacor desk c/o // Chair // Rug // Planters: DIY by yours truly // Lamp // Phone case // Candle

I'm so happy to finally share this room of our house with you. Today I'm sharing the office section of my closet room. It's part office and part closet, but more on the closet portion of the room at a later date!
When we first moved into our new house I wanted a room that felt calm and clean to get work accomplished in. The inspiration all started with this Hygge and West Wallpaper wallpaper (A project I swear I will never repeat unless someone else does it!)

After that I was searching far and wide for a desk until Bellacor stepped in to save the day. I really wanted a white desk with criss cross legs but every other one I found was either flimsy or had absolutely no drawer space! This desk was the light at the end of the tunnel! It's drawers are big enough to hide away all the junk I need to keep close at hand that just isn't pretty. Who wants to look at receipts and invoices? Not me!

Some of the other reasons this desk was the winner was that the middle drawer folds down so I can put the keyboard in there if I am in the mood to sit way back and relax in my comfy desk chair. There is also a hidden "bookshelf" below! I keep my kleenex box there for easy access. And the biggest bonus? It was quick and easy to assemble! The whole top including the drawers were pre-assembled! Heck yeah!

If you are not familiar with Bellacor, you need to get familiar. I had such a great experience with them. Their delivery was quick and easy. They even called to schedule a drop off time that would work for me. They brought it right up to our door which is harder than it sounds considering our house is on a serious incline which is a downfall of living on a mountain.

Bellacor also seriously helped me not make a lighting fixture mistake. The ceilings in our house are only 8 feet which doesn't sound super low but it makes almost all chandeliers impossible.  When I fell in love with a Bellacor chandelier, they sent over a Chandelier buying guide that quickly showed me it wasn't going to work!  Although it was sad, it let me focus on finding the right semi-flush fixture. That's way better than buying it and having to ship it back. We've all been there and it's a total bummer!

And now for the best part! There is a $500 Uttermost from Bellacor  shopping spree for you! Just follow the directions below. Also check out some of my favorite pieces at the very bottom! Good luck!!

Spaghetti Squash Egg Bake

Friday, June 10, 2016

healthy recipe, egg bake, quick party food, easy side dish, dairy free, grain free

As an egg lover, I always get excited when I see quiches at parties, but then I quickly remember I can't have them. Dairy and grains are not usually my friends and I've yet to find a quiche that was cheese-free and crustless. I think thats just called an omelet?

In efforts to come up with a yummy and pretty option, I invented this little dish. the best part is that its super easy to make but looks so pretty when its done! Also it's such a crowd pleaser. I've served it at many a brunch at my house and everyone loves it.

Heres what you need to create your own!
healthy recipe, egg bake, quick party food, easy side dish, dairy free, grain free
1 sliced roma tomato
3 eggs
handful of spinach, chopped
1 cup of spaghetti squash
Bacon crumbles (totally optional)

Mix your three eggs in your baking dish along with the pesto

Add the spinach and bacon and stir. After that, add the spaghetti squash. Mix well.

At this point your mixture will be pretty firm and able to hold rows of pretty tomatoes on top.

Bake at 375 for about 30 mins or until top is golden brown.

Tune-Up and Lace-Up

Jeans: Topshop Maternity// Tee: Nordstrom  $38 and just restocked and in 7 colors!! // Hat: Forever 21 // Bandana: Ebay // Bag: Forever 21 // Shoes: Superga

If you haven't noticed, bandanas are making a huge comeback and I'm loving it. They are so easy to throw on to add a little something extra to a regular jeans and tee-shirt combo. And you may be able to find bandanas at places like Zara, I prefer to score them for under $1.50 with free shipping on Ebay! For real! And you can pretty much get them in any shade of the rainbow!

This lace-up tee shirt is so cozy and also very on trend right now. the lace-up trend which has been seen mostly on footwear (just bought these!) and is now working its way upward to the necklines of tops and dresses.

Since I have pretty much exclusively been wearing sneakers, I felt these navy Supergas would be a good investment. I have the white ones, but my students always stepped on them at school and made them all dirty so this darker color is really just a smarter option.

Hope you are having a great weeks so far. I've got plans to share my office/closet room with you guys on the blog soon. Stay tuned!

Pretty much the same as my last outfit post, ASOS maxi, Rebecca Minkoff bag. It's like I'm starting to figure out my maternity uniform. Also if you noticed, I'm not messing around with heels much these days. You better believe that since I found out I was pregnant I've pretty much worn exclusively sneakers like these Supergas and my Adidas. Comfort first when making a human being, right?

You may also notice my Starbucks water in this picture. It was entirely necessary! I went through a phase where the only water I could get down had to be in a Starbucks cup with ice! Bonus points if the water was actually from Starbucks. Am I crazy or does their water taste better than anywhere else? I pretty much went through these cups so fast that the straws got holes in them and I had to take extras every trip in. They must have seen me coming, like I was the crazy lady who wanted the free cups of water. Honestly, I would have paid coffee prices if I had to but luckily they handed over these venti cups free of charge!
