2013 Favorites: Year in Review

Tuesday, December 31, 2013

2013 has been a great year for me and Hot Pink Style. I've gone on some great trips including Greece, San Francisco and Utah and gained some amazing memories from all of these trips. I've made new friends and gone to many great events that I would have never have known of if it weren't for Hot Pink Style. I'm so grateful for all of you who support me through this blogging adventure. You are the best and I thank you for your interest, motivation and inspiration.

Wish you all a happy and healthy 2014!

Here are my favorites from 2013. Click on a picture to be taken back to it's original post with all the outfit details.

Sample Sale Find

Monday, December 30, 2013

I just about died when I found this sweater at a sample sale in Wicker Park.

Blogger friend Peggy and I got early-access tickets to the sale, where I found this sweater all by its lonesome, full of marled-knit, mustard-hued, non-itchy perfection! Mustard and I have not always gotten along so well (the color, not the condiment) but I think the black mixed it up enough that I ended up really loving the color. The interesting knit pattern really added to this sweater's richness and ultimately lead to it coming home with me!

Fur Vest

Friday, December 27, 2013

Finding a good fur vest is never and easy task. I seem to be very lucky in ending my search at Forever 21 at a great price point! This warm and fuzzy option had faux-leather trim inside the button panel and some great vertical fur color tones that help give a lengthened appearance to an otherwise boxy piece.

And sure, I can wear this vest with any number of colors but this time I chose to go for all black with my favorite new "magic" pants and a textured knit sweater.

15 Pieces...

Thursday, December 26, 2013

Last week I did what I thought was just a simple post from a shopping obsessed girl (that's me). As it turned out I got alot of great feedback on it and how helpful it was for gift giving. I even got one of the items gifted to me! Thanks Amy!

With that said, I'd like to make "15 Pieces" a reoccurring post! Lord knows I will never run out of things I've got my eye on when it comes to shopping. Feel free to give your thoughts and commentary on the products I link. And don't forget to regularly stop at my "Shop My Favs" page where you can keep current with all of the pieces I'm buying or have my eye on that will be continually updated throughout the week!

On with the shopping overload and on to more SHOPPING!

Bevello Shopping Night

Wednesday, December 25, 2013

On December 5th I hosted a shopping night at Bevello, which is a new store in the Roosevelt Collection that I have raved about here on the blog before. It was a super fun night of shopping and hanging out with some of my favorite Chicago ladies!

I am so very bad at remembering to take pictures when events are going on, but luckily someone grabbed the camera before we left and snapped a few pics along the way. I guess we were having too much fun playing dress up.

This red blouse I'm wearing from Bevello was a crowd pleaser. It came in plum, tan and red and it left with many of us that night, along with many other cute finds.

I want to thank all the ladies who braved the cold weather that night and shopped, as well as Jillian of Bevello and her staff for making us feel so comfortable taking over the store for the night!

Little White Dress

Tuesday, December 24, 2013

When you're tall, sometimes a dress isn't really a dress. But that's what a good pair of black leggings is for.

This $10 dress from last winter's H&M sale seems to be even shorter this year. See how it was worn here to our holiday tradition of seeing White Christmas at the Music Box Theater last year -- which is where we will be heading tonight!

Plaid & Leather

Monday, December 23, 2013

If you have followed my blog for a while now, you know that I'm either wearing a big ol' necklace or none at all.

So when the ladies of Accessory Mercado asked me to style one of their pieces, I decided to try out something that isn't my norm. That's why I chose their delicate Nina necklace. It's light and simple, but the double layer adds just enough interest to any outfit. I've even been wearing it layered under some of my bulkier necklaces too. Check out all their lovely pieces (lots of statement pieces too! LOVE this one).

If you haven't checked out Accessory Mercado yet, you should. On top of their website they also have flash sales on Wednesdays nights at 8 p.m. on Facebook!

Tales From the Runway: WGN Holiday Dos and Don'ts

Saturday, December 21, 2013

Thursday was my first-ever TV appearance, all made possible by WGN Morning News and Chicago Blogger Network!

I had the opportunity to showcase holiday dos and don'ts with some lovely Chicago Bloggers! My "do" was too show off your best assests without showing too much skin. My dress was really awesome! It was hard to tell on camera but my Daniel Vosovic dress (yes, the one from Project Runway) had this amazing plum fur panel on the front that opened up in the back like sexy wings. See it a little better here (look #22).

One of the most exciting parts of the was that our dressing room was Bozo the Clown's old dressing room! Kind if creepy but also pretty awesome being from Chicago and watching as a kid.

I'd like to thank Jill of Chicago Blogger Network for offering me this great opportunity and congratulate her on rocking the interview portion of the segment. She really made it look easy! And a job well done to all the other bloggers for working all these holiday looks from Roam boutique in Gold Coast.
