Picturesque Leather

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

While you are sitting around with your friends and family today, I bet you are looking at some of the men in your life thinking "what the heck am I going to get him?" Well I have an idea. Hand-made leather perfection.

I came across Picturesque Leather bags while at the Randolph Street Market and instantly knew they would make the perfect gift for my husband. I must admit, I was overwhelmed at first with the options (because they were all so gorgeous) and had to buy his later online after finally deciding on the perfect one. This was hard because there were so many to choose from.

The best part is that the prices are incredible. These bags look like a million bucks, but they're super affordable. Seriously look at this Cole Haan one for triple the $$. And my husband get's compliments on his bag all the time. It's the kind of bag that will age to perfection with use.

And if you want to see it for yourself, here is my husband modeling his for us, looking mighty dapper I might add.

Check out all of Komal's handmade bags on www.picturesqueleather.com or visit her at the One Of A Kind Show at the Merchandise Mart December 5-8th.

6 Faux-Fur Vests That DON'T Look Like Road Kill!

Wednesday, November 27, 2013

Often times I just can't get over how much some of the fur vests out there look like road kill. However I've rounded up these six luxe looking options at very reasonable prices to keep you looking glam this holiday season!

Stay warm out there ladies!

Holiday Gifts for Her

So many women to shop for and so little time. In my personal opinion I think any woman would be happy to be gifted one of these pretty and also sometimes sparkly items below. After all the clock is ticking on your holiday shopping so you better get to it.

Happy shopping!

Lips Sweater

Tuesday, November 26, 2013

I'm almost certain this H&M sweater is sold out. The whole lip shirt trend has been very clear to me since this Markus Lupfer one made its way down the Nordstrom Trend Show runway this past September.

I picked up this spot-on look-alike (spotted all over the fashionable ladies on Instagram) for my friend Amy at a sliver of the price. She has been in love with the runway version since first sight. Take a look at a whole slew of lip print tops down below!

Although this lip sweater was a super amazing find for just under $20, the real highlight of this post is my favorite pink coat. I have lost some weight since I got it last year and it was looking boxy and unflattering so I took it in to the super-talented tailors over at Frank's Alterations. I was a little scared to hand it over, but for just $35 and a week's worth of waiting, I got my coat back looking better than ever. Moral of the story is that if you have a piece you truly love but something about it just isn't right, let a tailor do what they do best and you just might find you can love your clothes even more than you ever imagined.

If you live in the Chicagoland area I totally recommend Frank's Alterations. They are fast, reasonably priced and do amazing work. Give them a try!

Window Pane Sweater

Monday, November 25, 2013

The black-and-white trend is still going strong and I'm totally on board. In fact, I recently went a little overboard and bought a few sweaters that pretty much all look like some variation of the one you see below. The only reason I kept them all was that at around $20 a pop, it's hard to say no.

Check out a few of my favorites on the cheap below!

Buffalo Check, Faux Leather & Cheetah

Thursday, November 21, 2013

Finally, I have found a Buffalo check shirt that has the perfect fit, super-cute mini-check interior detail, and didn't cost a bunch. This affordable find is actually from Forever 21, as is the faux-leather pencil skirt. I love getting trendy pieces at Forever 21 because the prices are so very guilt-free, and so very similar to alot of the designer pieces.

Shades of Fall

Wednesday, November 20, 2013

Layers are a must in the Windy City, and what better way to add a layer of warmth than an infinity scarf!

This one simply had to be mine because it's the perfect neutral to compliment my hair color. Also it has a 50/50 knit pattern mix which adds a richness to the texture and makes it feel like you are getting two scarves in one. I was in love from the moment i tried it on. Expect to be seeing it a lot through the winter.

Want to know where you can get your own infinity scarf in your perfect shade? Bevello!

Check back Friday for an exciting announcement for all you Chicago ladies out there. This is going to be fun!

The Perfect Red Blazer

Tuesday, November 19, 2013

A good red blazer is hard to come by. It is also especially important around the holiday season. The one I'm wearing below I found at Kohl's from the Lauren Conrad Collection last winter. It fit right in with all my other boldly colored blazers, and it was under $50. No complaints here.

Since then I still keep my eye out for good red blazers, out of habit I suppose. The only other one I have come across that lives up to my expectations is this one by a new brand called Q Mack at Macy's that has the most adorable line of mix-and-match separates! Take a look below to see their perfect red blazer as well as some of my other picks.

Recent Events

Monday, November 18, 2013

Lately I've been to a number of fun events, but I have worn so many unblogged outfits. Such a disgrace, I know.

Here are a few of these outfits in case you wonder how a teacher snaps into party wear after school... or maybe not. Two of these three outfits I've worn to school, and simply changed into different shoes for the event.

First outfit up is from the Cheeky Chicago's 5th Birthday bash at the Underground, where you just know I had to get a picture on the pink carpet!

Next up we have the Coach Michigan Avenue event where blogger/teacher friend Peggy and I took a shameless photo with the gorgeous guest host, Sophia Bush, who was decked out head-to-toe in Coach gear (she wore the olive green leather skirt you see pictured below).

You can see more pictures from the event here.

And finally we have the Benetton Chicago Gets Tagged event where I blended in nicely with the graffiti art! See Peggy and I at michiganavemag.com.

4 Cold Weather Outfits to Gift

Friday, November 15, 2013

Here are 4 looks I'm loving for this chilly season that is upon us. And since the holiday season is upon us these looks are perfect for 4 very different types of women. Or maybe just one woman who likes to have options.

1. City Chic: Perfect for the city girl who likes to look good on the go!
2. Sporty: For any girl who likes to look cute even when she sweats!
3. Urban Girl: For the more casual girl with a little bit of an edge.
4. Windy City Warrior: For those Chicago girls who brave the freezing temps everyday.

End of the Road

Thursday, November 14, 2013

The end of this trip approached us all too quickly. We had such a great time in Utah but as we know, all good things must come to an end.

Much like what was left for outfit options in my luggage. All these layered outfits really ate up my available wardrobe, fast. What was left, I threw together into what you see here below. Not bad for a road trip across the mountains.

We drove back to Salt Lake City and took in some final scenic views along the way. I hope maybe you gained a bit of appreciation for Utah from these last few posts. I know I did.

Bad-Ass Cliffs

Wednesday, November 13, 2013

I think the title of this post pretty much says it all. It was hard to not act a little tough with these cliffs in the background, not to mention the added attitude provided by a biker jacket and leather boots.

To erase all traces of toughness, I included a lovey-dovie picture of me and the Mr. all the way at the bottom taken by my talented sister-in-law.

See I'm not tough at all. I wasn't fooling anyone though.
