Pumpkin Patch

Friday, October 19, 2012

On our way home from Milwaukee this past weekend we decided to stop at a pumpkin patch to get a pumpkin for my classroom. It's pretty safe to say we were the only couple there without children of our own.
As you can see I went with a small one. I have no intention of carving the little guy and will be giving it away to one of my students in just a few short weeks.

When I put this poncho on in the store I loved it, however when my husband first saw it his words were "that is ridiculous." I told him just you wait, I bet at least one girl will compliment me on it during the day and sure enough 2 separate girls stopped me to tell me how cute they thought it was! Ha, take that Andrew!
Needless to say he does not like it, but I still do!

What are your thoughts on ponchos/capes? Are they one of those items only women like but guys just don't understand? Or am I all alone in this?

Tonight I am heading out to the Art of Fashion show presented by Style Chicago at Millennium park! This has become my favorite fashion event of the year and I'm super excited...and still have no idea what to wear! Hopefully I will come up with something fabulous by tonight!

Have a great weekend and thanks for reading!

Anniversary Weekend: Part 2

Thursday, October 18, 2012

After we arrived at the Iron Horse Hotel in Milwaukee, we enjoyed a tasty complimentary drink and got ready for our night out. We headed over to Harbor House, recommended by my hair stylist Devin. It's a good thing she did because they had the best Lobster Bisque I've ever had.

Throughout dinner we had a great view of the Art Museum, so we decided to go walk around over there when we were finished. Even though it was yucky and a little bit rainy out we still had a great time walking around and taking a few silly pics.

Date night outfit!

The lighting in the bathroom was seriously flattering. I would like it installed in every room of my house!

Anniversary Weekend Getaway: Part 1

Wednesday, October 17, 2012

These pics are the beginning of our anniversary trip to Milwaukee. We couldn't get away for long, but the hour-and-a-half drive still required some comfy clothes. I changed into my new StyleMint Freemont sweatshirt, some stretchy black skinnies and we hit the road. Along the way we had to make a stop at Kopps for some frozen custard (first stop of two on the trip in a matter of only 24 hours) and then made our way to the fabulous Iron Horse Hotel!

I think it's pretty clear by now how much I love these boots!

An interesting backdrop we saw on the way to the hotel.

Hot Pink and Oxblood

Tuesday, October 16, 2012

I had seen a few other lovely bloggers pair hot pink and oxblood lately, so I decided to try it out. It's an unexpected color combination that pairs surprisingly well together. It worked so well I tried each twice, layering the pink necklace on pink sweater and oxblood boots over oxblood leggings.

What do you think? Would you try this color combo?

Chicago Ideas Week: Education

Monday, October 15, 2012

This weekend, I attended an education-focused talk - hosted by LeVar Burton - as part of Chicago Ideas Week. It turned out to be a very thought-provoking and rainy start to the weekend.

When cataloguing the outfit details below the pictures, I realized I'm wearing a whole lot of items. I love all the layers because it gives me more of an opportunity to wear and show you more of my favorite pieces at once. I guess I'll just have to get used to cold-day outfits taking a lot more time and typing to identify!

Like this new pencil skirt and polka-dot sweater. As I said, it was pretty rainy, so our stairwell was the driest place to take pictures in a pinch.

Hope you had a great weekend. My husband and I left promptly after the talk for a fun weekend in Milwaukee to celebrate our one-year wedding anniversary.
