Knit H&M Tank

Friday, August 15, 2014

So this is a little embarrassing. These pictures are way back from NYC in June. And Guess what, I still have one more outfit from NYC to share still too. Clearly, you can tell I've been enjoying the heck out of summer.

This top is unlike anything I have ever purchased before. I mean, it's a gold knitted tank top! For one it's pretty much see-through (not school-teacher friendly) and it was only $14 from H&M so I figured what the heck, why not, It's summer break.

The real trick will be to see what I can do with it to make it work appropriate. Can it be done? Thoughts? Comments? Suggestions welcome!

Madewell Must-Have

Monday, February 10, 2014

Last week I went to the Madewell Spring Preview event. It was hosted by the adorable Liz, who blogs over at Sequins and Stripes, who was just the sweetest ever!

While shopping the racks, I always tend to gravitate towards the sale items. I tried a few on and they just weren't doing anything for me. To my surprise, a very well-placed table of leggings jeans were right outside my dressing-room door, where I spied these almost-to-dark-to-be-considered-jeans pair of legging jeans.

I thought to myself that they were just un-jeanlike enough that I could get away with wearing them on days other than just casual Fridays. They were just too good and too incredibly soft to pass up. Of course they had to be full price, but with the event discount I got them for 20% off.

If you are in the market for some super-comfy legging jeans that actually have a high enough waistband that you can squat down with confidence, you should get over to Madewell and try these on!

Midwest Style Bloggers Brunch

Monday, September 30, 2013

This weekend I was invited to the Midwest Style Bloggers brunch at Quay. Naturally, when a bunch of Chicago style bloggers are together in a room, there is endless chatting about fashion, shopping and of course our fabulous city.

I had such a blast meeting other girls who have the same passion for blogging as I do. Some I had seen around Instagram and their blogs before, but most were new to me. Two of them (Peggy and April) were teachers like myself, which was refreshing to hear.

I learned so much from hearing what everyone had to say about how they run their blogs and how they find time for it all. I also learned how grateful I should be for my husband and Amy being such awesome supporters of Hot Pink Style by being my photographers. Lots of these talented gals use tripods! Props to them for making it happen however possible!

All in all, it was a great eperience with great company, tasty food and amazing goodie bags! I look forward to the next event with these newfound friends! Thanks again Midwest Style Bloggers!

Megan and I became real-life friends! Not just Instagram friends anymore!

Erin and I found out we are neighbors! We live just a few blocks apart!

What do a bunch of Fashion bloggers do at a blogging event? Take pictures of our outfits of course!

After the damage had been done to the room it still managed to look pretty. Great venue with tons of natural light!

Favorite New Heels

Monday, June 10, 2013

The morning I put this on, I really had no idea what to wear. But when in doubt, I grab a chambray shirt. The problem lately is that a lot of my shirts and skirts are starting to get a little too big on me (thanks to the Whole30 I just completed and am extending), which makes me feel a little sloppy. Hope it didn't come out looking that way.

I was pretty excited to wear my new "Jeanette" Sole Society heels. I can't even begin to tell you how long I searched for a red leather mid-heel that didn't look trashy but could be worn in the daytime. These are perfect.

Collars: Not Crabby This Monday

Monday, March 25, 2013

It's true. I'm not crabby at all this particular Monday.

You see, I'm not waking up at my usual 5:30AM because it's Spring Break! I have a week off work! So while that means I'm sleeping in and enjoying the daylight, you at work are feeling... well... crabby. I guess this sweater is for all of you!

Happy Monday to all, working or not today!

Lots o' Leather

Thursday, February 7, 2013

I tried to balance out this very rebellious-looking outfit with a roomy cable knit sweater and chambray top for work, but after work the leather-sleeved coat came out to complement the leather in the pants.
