Hunter Tour Boots Save the (Rainy) Day

I've been getting alot of use out of these packable Hunter boots lately with all the rain we have had. Although The black heels I had packed to wear to work would have been alot more professional, I really never had much time to change out of these so I kept them on all day! These boots really are so comfortable and light compared to the original Hunters. The packables are so much lighter and can roll up to be stored in your bag! Perfect for luggage or your work bag! Pop of Purple

To complete my week of black-and-white themed outfits, I snuck a small dose of the trend in on jeans day in the form of my J. Crew Snowcat shirt. I love how it added both interest and warmth under this cheery shade of purple. The hat was just out of necessity, much like the hunters were two days back.

This weekend brings one of my favorite bi-yearly events here in Chicago, the Nordstrom Cosmetics Trend Show. At last season's show, I not only forgot to put the battery back in the camera, but also watched in horror as the camera face-planted -- lens straight to the ground -- off a chair and broke. Between the Nordstrom purchases and the camera lens replacement, it was an expensive day. Let's hope that my camera stays safe this time in its double-protected bag!

NYE 2012

I had grand plans of wearing a great iridescent white peplum sequin dress for New Year's Eve. And then I realized how little that plan made sense... since I was going to be at a hole-in-the-wall bar with a bunch of dudes who would probably spill drinks on that pretty dress. So I switched to a safe-colored black dress. 

Then my next thought was there will be lots of outdoor walking because we will probably have a really hard time catching a cab because they're alway full on New Year's. So then I added the tights, walkable heels and a extra layer of warmth under the dress in the form of a snowcat button-down.

I refused to give up all the fun and sparkle so I tossed on this necklace and bracelet. Maybe one of these New Year's I'll get to wear a sequin dress instead of being so darn practical!
