This is my kind of perfect outfit. If I'm not in a dress I'm usually in overalls or jumpsuit of some sort. This combo of black dressy overalls and a satiny puff sleeve top make the whole look kind of dressy. pair if with an embellished beret (because every outfit looks cooler with a beret!) and a chic bag and you've got yourself a holiday look that's not too dressy.
If you are pregnant, thinking about getting pregnant or want to be pregnant in the next few years, GET THESE SHORTALLS! These short overalls are my absolute most favorite item I've purchased. In fact I loved them so much they came in full length overalls that I snapped up immediately too! They are so light and stretchy with zero waist but no ruching so they don't look scream "maternity" and I seriously think I will wear these when I am not pregnant too. Most days the very thought of pants or a waist band is enough to make me want to stay in pajamas all day but these are perfectly cute for public and you can wear whatever cute top (that still fits) underneath. They also have pockets! So in case you missed my point, just buy these!! When the time comes, they will be the best 33 bucks you've spent in awhile!
I know, I'm barely considered a blogger anymore. I'm trying. Just when were getting all settled into our new house, we had to up and leave for ten days back to Chicago for the Holidays. Sounds like a long time, I know, but it flew by! We barely even got to go to any of the places we had on our list like our favorite cuban resturant 90 Miles and our favorite Italian resturant Calo up in Andresonville.
I did get to see alot of my favorite people and stay with my two very favorite little people, my niece and nephew. We had a blast doing kid stuff like air hockey and having dance parties. We also got some quality snuggle time in too which was great.
Now we are back and it feels great to be at the start of a new year. I'm jumping straight into another whole 30, because sweet lord, we have been eating like idiots since before we moved and its time to get back on track.
I know so many of you ask me about my whole 30 recipies and I'm going to work on my food photography to make it not all look gross because I promise all my whole 30 food is amazingly fresh and healthy and most importantly, delicious. One of my biggest excitements in life right now is the prospect of wearing casual clothes for months at a time now that I won't have a job to go to. Teaching has limited my wearing of jeans and definitely my wearing ripped overalls. I freaking love them though and am pretty convinced they look better than some of the work outfits I pull together some days.
In my opinion winter is the worst weather to even try to look cute in. You have to wear tights to even think about a skirt or a dress and just generally a million layers, which leave you feeling all stiff-armed and immobile. Not fun! I don't know about you, but I pretty much just want to live in a blanket from December through February. I'm not sad to be missing Chicago's most obscene months once we move.
Now, life finally has no dress code! My lounge wear collection is anticipated to expand as that's what I intend to be doing for most of the winter in SLC. J/k I'll be wearing it in the house while I get our place ready and livable. But why not wear some great Uniqlo sweat pants and flowy Free People sweat shirts in the process, right? I'll also be living in my Lululemon gear too because it's way more socially appropriate for a Whole Foods run than my fleece snowman adult onsie pjs. Yep, I own that.

This cape is probably my best Forver 21 find of them all. It looks like a million bucks but didn't cost over $40! I found it last year so It's no longer avaliable (but they do have this cute one right now) but I did gather up some of my favorite cape coats out there for you to shop.

There is so much I'm loving in this outfit. These overall are practically all I wear every weekend since I got them and I'm really having fun styling them in so many different ways. These Coach loafers are pretty much the only shoes I can seem to wear all day on my feet at school. They are so darn comfortable I can't imagine wearing anything else. Not to mention the color goes with everything and they even look great with dresses and skirts. And then we have this hat. Hats are my favorite part of Fall, and this one is turning out to be my favorite by far. Get ready to see all these items on heavy rotation over here on HPS.
Being a middle-schooler in the 90's, overalls were the ultimate cool-girl item in my closet. I wore mine with a pink satin babydoll top and thought it was just the coolest outfit ever. Flash forward to present day, overalls are making a full-on comeback and what does my full grown adult self do but snap up a new pair!
This pair was on sale for $29 bucks from American Eagle. Kind of a late night online shopping impulse buy, but I could tell it was a good one because I wanted to wear them immediately when they arrived!
Like many of you out there I was worried overalls might be tricky to style without coming off too much like either a 13 year old girl or a farmer. I kept the base classic, girly and lacy and added simple accessories like my favorite white panama hat and converse for day look. For a night time look, I added this chunky braided necklace that you can scoop up for just $11! I also added my favorite subtle yet sexy nude Zara heels to wrap up the look.
