Baby's Gender: Girl
Name: Athena

How are you feeling? Still sick and nauseous and on meds. It really makes me look forward to labor because at least with that I know it will end this. Baby girl, you wanna come early? Let's do this! I've got clothes, a nursery and everything you could need, all set up and ready to go!

How is baby? She is ACTIVE! At all my doctors appointments we hear nothing but good news about how she's doing so I can't complain too much. Her favorite activities consist of kicking me in the ribs when I wear pants, a bra, or sit. Anything that compromises her space she is not a fan of and has no problem letting me know. She also enjoys kicking me in my already nauseous and upset stomach. Good times.

What are you excited about? FALL! For some glorious reason, when the temps drop a little, I feel less nauseous which is a major bonus! How nice will it be to have a fall/ winter baby? I'm excited to hang out in cozy pj's and snuggle all day. Also since this is my husbands busy season at work and pretty much always will be, I have realized that both Athena and my birthdays will be around two weeks apart, so I am looking forward to having a partner to take mother daughter trips with while daddy is busy with work! How cool will that be?

How is the nursery coming along? It's done and has been for a few weeks now.  You can see the reveal here! We really love how it turned out. Currently we are working on her playroom, that already in my mind that looks great, but it will be slow progress since I can't paint of move heavy furniture.

Do you feel ready? I think so. I mean of course an newborn will throw us for some loops but I have all the basics she will need. The Mamaroo is all set up, I've taken lactation classes through the fabulous Lactation Link and have their videos on hand in case I need a memory refresh. We have interviewed and found our pediatrician. We even got our flu shots and whatever other vaccinations I needed.

I have a few things still in the works that I would like done, like her bathtub shower head needs to be switched to a hose for easy baby hose downs! The banister on the stairway to her room is also being installed in the upcoming week. This one is important to me because late night feedings may lead to some late night tripping on the stairs and I want to make sure the hand rail is ready. It's pretty weird that the house didn't come with one but we have survived so far. It will just give me peace of mind when it's there.

I it will be awhile before she needs a playroom but I have the whole plan set up and I think the way I have it planned, it will also make a nice guest room area too, so we want to get that done ASAP.

Any weird pregnancy symptoms? I can't believe how much things make me cry! I AM NOT a crier. When you grow up with boys like the ones in my family, tears are a sign of weakness and you learn not to show them, because they accomplish nothing. But lately if I talk about my old students, listen to a podcast, or think of something small, I can get teary. I definitely wasn't like this in my first trimester when I expected to be, but now at the end of my 3rd, I'm kind of a mess. I think the hormones and the culmination of it all is wearing on my nerves. I dare you not to cry after feeling like you've had the stomach flu for 8 months!

Plans/Trips before baby? This weekend we are going to stay at our favorite hotel in Deer Valley, the Hyatt Escala for our babymoon, anniversary, and my birthday trip all rolled into one. We have stayed there twice before and have always had such great experiences. I can't wait for some much needed soaking in the year-round heated pool, and then some more soaking in the deep jacuzzi tubs followed by some time chilling near the in-room fireplaces! YES!
