Romper: Victoria Beckham for Target (Sold out) // Scarf: Vintage (this one is my fav right now // Bag: Nordstrom Rack (love this similar one) // Sunglasses: Urban Outfitters // Sandals

On Athena: Romper: Gap (last season but this one is this years version)

This new bakery opened in our hood and I wasn't excited for the reason you may think. Sure some sweets are reason for excitement but they had this super cute mural painted out front! You all know I love a fun wall so I decided it was time to pull out this Victoria Beckham for Target romper so I could color coordinate with the poppy mural out in front of the bakery accordingly named Poppies!

I've had a lot of friends ask me about my vintage neck scarves so I'm going to share with you a few tips. I NEVER pay more than $7 for a vintage scarf! I find them at vintage stores in bins or clipped to clothing rack ends. I also find them at lots of outdoor flea markets. Usually they run me about $3! I try to keep the colors close to things I already own but I love bright ones like this one that offer a great pop of color. They are so simple to wear too, I swear! I think this is the part that people fear the most, they think they are doing it wrong. All I do is fold diagonally and then fold inwards from the top corner so that I'm left with a long strip with the tip tucked all the way inside. Tie it high around your neck, tie it loose, tip it to the side, tie it uneven so one end is longer than the other, all of these work for me! I swear they are way easier to pull off than you think! So stop envying the neck scarf people of the world and become one yourself!

Why I Have Sentimental Value For This Romper

I realized I never shared this long sleeved romper look but it kind of holds a special place in my heart. The day these pictures were taken was the first day I ever stepped foot in our new house!

To say we had been looking hard for a place to live in SLC all while living in Chicago is an understatement. I seriously could NOT think of anything else. Any time I had a free second in the halls at school I would hop on one of the many Realestate apps that was crowding up my phone. It was all consuming. I was terrified of moving to a new place and hating where I lived because anyone who knew me in Chicago knew how much I adored my old apartment.

As you can probably tell from my snapchats and previous posts, I love to decorate too. I had just finished redecorating our place in Chicago when the chance to move arrived. It made it bittersweet to leave. A good friend of mine tells me know that if you think your home is "done" then it's probably time to leave. How right she was! We were ready for a change.

After seeing about 4 places out of hundreds that I would like to see, go off the market in just days I became extremely discouraged! Then one lunch break at school, I saw out current home on an app and it just came on the market. I prayed that it would stay on the market for the 2 weeks we needed till we would be out there to see it with our own two eyes. We weren't dumb, we'd never buy something sight unseen. Or even rent for that matter.

I tried to keep my expectations low because every other place we liked was snapped up in a few days. Finally the day came that we flew out to SLC to look for houses. We had a massive excel spreadsheet with rentals, condos, and homes all ready to go. The night we arrived it was super late but we were compelled to drive past our now home to see what we though. We saw the lights of the valley sparkling from the front knowing that could be our view one day. Still we waited and went to see  about 5 billion properties in the next two days. The first one we visited was our house now. We loved it but thought we ought to see what else was out there to compare. After seriously LONG days of our realtor probably hating us for making her take us to every property out there (all of which were HARD no's, we asked if we could go back and see the first house we saw. We pretty much knew then that nothing compared to it for us. We loved it.

My brain remembers events by outfits I wear which is pretty funny considering I have a blog cataloging my life by outfits. So this will forever be documented as the outfit I wore when we first met our new home in SLC!

Romper: BCBG // Necklace: Anthropologie // BAG: The Sak // Sunglasses: Forever 21 // Espadrilles: Seville Wedges by J. Crew

What's that you say? Why yes my hair does look redder and I do look tanner. It's all an illusion. These are actually pictures from last July! But since this romper is older than time, I figured it couldn't get any older really so why now post these long lost photos now that its warmer. I love this romper but when I bought it, it was well before the days that romper were cool and trendy. When I wore it, my friends would ask why I was wearing an adult onsie. But look who was right in the long run. Not everyone likes rompers, they are an acquired taste for sure, but we have always gotten right along. This one is still in the archives of my closet, but don't you worry, it will have many new romper friends to play with this summer like this palm print one and this chambray lace one on the back-burner for warm weekends and Summer break!

If you don't own a pair of these Seville wedges from J. Crew you simply must. There is a reason they have come back in stock every summer for at least the last 3 years. They are so comfortable and mak your legs look muscular and miles long. They are basically magic which is why I bought 2. They are back again here.

White Loft Eyelet Romper

Tuesday, August 26, 2014

I heard rumors that white eyelet has an expiration date, the end of August. I don't usually subscribe to those types of fashion rules but I'm at least going to get this outfit up at an acceptable date for all of you out there who do care about these kinds of things.

I wore this white eyelet LOFT romper to my husbands family reunion. It was pretty hot out during the day but at night this waterfall cardigan kept me warm. I adore this sweater so much I have it in 3 colors. I'm sure they will be keeping me warm in the harsh air conditioning in my classroom all year long.
